Team Fortress 2, just like last season, and I think for the next one too. I'm not big into FPSs because most of them boring and all the same, too many of them focus on the multiplayer where I'm looking for a good imersive singleplayer campain and leave the online play for TF2 and Left 4 Dead.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Portal 2.
These are the only two of this year's shooters I've actually played, so yeah, I kinda have to agree with you. Although they are both very original (despite being sequels), well-put-together and have a helluva lot more content than the average shooter...

None, really. The pickings in the genre this year were to me terribly derivative and uninspired. The only FPS-ish thing this year that I found remotely good was Portal 2, but I'd hardly call it an FPS. And Deus Ex: HR, but that was more of an RPG...

Skyrim. Its the only game I'm playing now other than some occasional League of Legends and TF2. I will however say that I intend to get Resistance 3 cause 2 was good and I want to see how the story finishes.
I must have missed the memo saying skyrim was a First Person Shooter. I guess you can shoot arrows but really?

OT: Metro 2033 , it's the only shooter i enjoyed this gen .

Hells yeah to Bulletstorm!
There's something really satisfying that I get in this game. Maybe it's because I really enjoy a game that actively encourages me to murder dudes in creative and hilarious ways. Maybe it's the creative and funny dialogue being used in the game. Maybe it's the bright colours which lead me away from all the seas of brown and grey that I've seen this year. Maybe it's because Steve Blum is voicing the main protagonist.
I have no idea really and while I do see some flaws in the game, It remains one of my favourite FPS games of this year and of all time.

Only FPS' I've actually bought this year are Human Revolution and L4D2. Since HR is yet to actually get any good, my vote is with L4D2 for now. Love the multiplayer.

Serious Sam HD, because I played SS3 and found it's color dulness and force fed cheesy military tune extremely irritating.

And no other FPS really improved on any of that.

BF3, I like it a lot, just the freeness to do things is what makes it fun.
Red Orchestra 2, I like the game, but I can't say its better than the first.

I know Skyrim isn't a FPS, and I already responded to this like 3 posts below the one you quoted.

I've found myself enjoying Battlefield 3 a TON for the obvious reasons that the OP have stated. Despite its bugs and slight imbalances, I'm sure DICE will prove to be able continue improving the game as per usual (despite what EA thinks).

I've also been enjoying Tribes: Ascend a TON. Granted, the game has too many hitscan weapons in a game where hitscan shouldn't be used and it's class-loadout-preset based, and it isn't what those "hardcore T1-T2(-T:V) vets (granted, I am one too)", I can enjoy the game for what it is, especially with how the game industry is working right now.

Gears of war 3. I love that game, and have solidly played it since its release back in september.
