Now I am considering Killing Floor, can anyone tell me if it is any good?

Nothing so far. Most of the games that interested me were during the Christmas sale last year. I was tempted by the THQ pack, but the only game I really wanted from there was Metro 2033 and that was cheaper to go and buy on its own. Slightly regret not going for Bioshock 2 but I got that in-store as well for cheap.

Never owned a credit card just had a debit card which you can use through Paypal, I don't remember having to wait days to validate but I could be wrong.

I was thinking of picking up Red Faction, but Yahtzee once again turned me away.

As far as killing floor goes my friends seem to like it although I've never personally given it a go. It is riddled with downloadable content like additional characters for $.99 a pack. A bit steep in my honest opinion, but they have to make money somehow I suppose.

Don't own a credit or a debit card. Here in The Netherlands, it's common to pay either with cash or with an ATM card. So I have no credit/debit card, I just linked my paypal to my bankaccount, without the use of any cards. You probably cut down on the paperwork by using a card so maybe that's why it's faster when you use one.
