Just picked up a copy of Donnie Darko. The people that have seen this movie tend to go into either the "love it" or "hate it" crowd, and you can put me right in the center of the "love it" crowd.

Also, anybody else going to see The Dark Knight? I for one can't wait, and from the previews alone it looks like Ledger is going to give an A+++ preformence.

Idiocracy. I love that I'm friends with a family that rents movies all the time. Don't get stuck with what's in theatres or what's on tv.
Yay! I'm not the only person to see that movie. What a frightening end of the world.
Yeah, it's worse than most dystopias, because there's no hope, and it's not all that unlikely either.
If you've seen the Bogans in this country, then the movie isn't that far off.

Idiocracy huh...yeah I couldn't stand that movie. It tried to be funny on a very non-funny matter and most of the jokes where the sort of thing the movie was making fun of while trying to be serious to show that those jokes are not funny because they bring about our doom, what sort of a joke is funny when it shows our doom. Granted the movie is not supposed to be funny but then why did it have jokes? It was like a horrible, horrible paradox.
I found The Day After Tomorrow and aparently that wasn't supposed to be. I agree, at some stages, the humour made me more scared then laughing on how realistic it could be. But it did have a lot of great parts.

Watched "Zeitgeist" on youtube. Not sure what to think about it. On one hand it makes sense but on the other hand there's the "batshit crazy conspiracy theorist factor".

Hellboy. Only good comic book movie I can remember seeing, and only Ron Perlman movie I've seen with a special effects budget bugger than the director's lunch tab. Finally a decent movie for a good actor.

And Harvey. Best movie ever.

And I'm glad to learn I'm not the only one to think AI and Blade Runner sucked ass.

I hated A.I., and I, Robot too, which i watched recently. Which version of Bladerunner? Although personally I like both (love the Director's Cut)

I've only seen the original. Like Napoleon Dynamite (which I also hated), I never saw a reason to watch it again, so I've never seen the Director's Cut. I thought I, Robot was terrible, a thin shadow of the book, but Will Smith really pulled out I Am Legend, a great performance in a weak script. [/opinion]

Hells yes. The Dark Knight looks like it's gonna be movie of the year for me. According to a few reviews I've read, Ledger's likely to get a posthumous Oscar nomination for it. Plus I'm a huge Chris Nolan fan, so it's win-win for me :)

Most recent things I watched have been Day Watch, which is excellent, and Toy Story 2. Nowhere near as good as the original in my opinion. It just seemed like Pixar went overboard with pop culture references after seeing Shrek's success. Wall E on the other hand, looks absolutely awesome. It's been far too long to wait for another film from Andrew Stanton.

Has anyone seen Wanted? It looked like a whole bunch of silly fun in the trailer.

I can't wait for it, but not for Heath Ledger. I know it's not good to speak ill of the dead, but if he was still alive, I doubt it would have this giant hype about him. I want to watch it becuase it's a good movie with good actors. I don't want to be one of the Ledger fanboys in the crowd crying over his performance. It was sad, don't get me wrong, but I keep hearing people are watching the movie just for him. It seems like a big marketing scheme.

*twitch*
I Am Legend is one of my favourite books. Anyone who has read it can probably guess my opinion of the film. Director's Cut of Bladerunner is better than the theatre release.

EDIT: I also don't get the raving over Napolean Dynamite. I didn't like it.

Wanted. And it was awesome.
Note to anyone planning on seeing it: Do not watch it like it's a regular movie, treat it like a comic-book movie. Everything is impossible, it's supposed to be that way. A lot of people criticize it because they don't understand that.

The last movie I saw in the theater was Wall-E - it was amazing, such heart in that movie. I'm definitely going to see Hellboy II soon (I've been looking forward to it more than The Dark Knight).

On DVD - last night I watched Be Kind, Rewind. It was pretty good, a good idea with some pretty funny parts. I also rented There Will Be Blood and Ratatouille, but have yet to watch them.

Saw Cloverfield for the first time recently. Very meh film. Could take it or leave it.
I liked the "1st person" feel in Cloverfield is, but they never explained anything to you, and the ending was an Anticlimax.

Maybe if they just focused on lengthening the movie, and knowing what the hell that they're doing, it would have been better.

Damn Americans. I have to wait 2 months to see Wall-E.

To be more on-topic: 2001: A Space Odyssey.
I would love to say that it was a good movie, but it was really boring. The most exiting part was the bit at the start with the monkeys beating each other up, with the theme playing in the background.
Seeming as it was made in the 60s, I'm assuming most people who watched it were on drugs. I can see why people would have liked it then.

Glad to know someone else watched it. It's like the George Gershwin of movies. Loved it too.

Evil Bunnies FTW!

Sorry to be a big ole movie geek, but the bunny's not really evil. Frank's just the pivotal character that causes Donnie's world to end through no fault of his own.

It was just for effect...

Oh, and I watched Hancock a few hours ago.

It was pretty good, but it didn't conclude well. (Was there even a PROPER antagonist?)
