When answering, please do not include drugs of any kind. This includes caffeine or prescription meds.

Example: What helps me go to sleep is the sound of rain. It comforts me knowing that I am warm and dry inside. Also, a hard days work or a few days of bad insomnia earlier will let be sleep pretty quickly.

Rain, a heavy comforter over me (no matter the temperature), and a pillow/stuffed animal/pretty lady to cuddle.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters.

I, at one point, loved Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I thought it was hilarious.

Then it started going downhill. Then the movie came out.

I see two or three movies a week. I have for years. I love movies. This was the only one I slept through.

Music. Lately I listen to "In the court of the crimson king" because I find it relaxing

the sound of my jacked up fan... it's un-balanced, so it make a rhythmic pulsing noise that I find hypnotic

Silence and darkness.

On very rare occasions the Beatles help me sleep
Goodnight by The Beatles is a sure winner to knock me out.

Also it helps when I have someone to cuddle, but I'll be sleeping alone until May -_-

I usually listen to a George Carlin album on my iPod. :)
That seems like it'd bring about some interesting dreams...

As for myself, I can't think of a sleep aid.
I just try to sleep around a given time(it varies).
But if I'm still up at 3am, I've done something wrong most of the time.

Definitely.

Otherwise music helps sometimes.

The best thing is just to be really tired though.

Why the hell not?
I don't want drugs mentioned because they are sometimes obvious methods and I want people to try to post other means as sleeping aids.

Also, I found out staying up on the Escapist helps me sleep too ( 3

A good dream the night before makes me more eager to sleep.
Unfortunately, the opposite is also true.

COmbine a nightmare with my medication that likes to make me nauseus and the possibility of my being narcoleptic, and you have an unhappy Erana. :(

*after reading some other answers*

Definitely listening to the rain with a cool breeze blowing through my window but that's a spring/summer thing; for winter just being warm and often anything on my ipod playing

though i'm still having trouble figuring out what helps me sleep, if i can't sleep exhaustion usually wins out eventually

Barring NyQuil or a copious amount of alcohol (both drugs I suppose), I find that a nice constant sound like a fan or rain is quite soothing. When the opportunity presents itself, a nice bit of... intimate relations... is quite effective at knocking me out as well.
