If you want something a little more classy and thought provoking than your average horror flick, go for Splice. It's not really horror as it could be labeled suspense, with an analysis of the human psyche and a bit of sex in it.

Child's play ;p

Tell her the name and she'll be like oh that doesn't sound so bad.
What's that one about? Sounds kinda freaky to be honest :p

Some of the Japanese ones are pretty good and scary. I really hated(as in good) The Grudge. That kid scared the shit out of me. There is an american version of that as well. The Ring, not as good as The Grudge, but it was still scary. Both not gory.
Yeah, Grudge is pretty intense, but seeing as it's her first time EVER watching a horror movie I plan to try not to make her too afraid...You know, because she can kick my ass faster than I can put a tie on.

One that you've seen before so you don't jump and scream like a little girl.

Oh, clearly A Serbian Film. That's the perfect date movie.
...Ew. So wrong...
Haha sound advice, must remember to watch the movie prior to showing it to her :D
Ever heard of chucky? Or maybe you've heard of good guy dolls.

This new christmas thing called good guy dolls. One of them gets possessed by a multi murder voodoo practitioner. And shit ensues. Go for it, there is blood but it could be worse and its classic.
Chucky were good movies, but she also doesn't want dolls to be murderers, if she changes her mind I might look into that thanks :D

1408. No real gore, mostly psychological. Bout an evil hotel room that drives people insane. Widely regarded as better than the short story by stephen king that it was adapted from.

Any blood is in the form of minor injuries, and even then, its scarce.
THANK YOU! exactly what I was looking for :D, now to chose that or Idle Hands like Aylaine suggested :D

Sorry but the ones I recognize on that list of yours are all very bloody and gory which is exactly I wasn't going for, but thanks anyway :)

The The Abominable Dr. Phibes and Dr. Phibes Rises Again are both classics from when horror movies and their actors had class. Go with The Abominable Dr. Phibes if you want start the story or go with Dr. Phibes Rises Again if you just want a very enjoyable movie with some great dark humor and a deep plot.

The Abominable Dr. Phibes http://www.amazon.com/Abominable-Dr-Phibes-Vincent-Price/dp/B0000542CL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1293161274&sr=8-1-spell

Dr. Phibes Rises Again http://www.amazon.com/Phibes-Rises-Again-Vincent-Price/dp/B0000542CM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1293160954&sr=8-1

Tell us which horror movie you pick :D
I'll probably go for Idle Hands to ease her into horror movies and at a later time I'll take 1408, and might go for Dr.Phibes if I find it anywhere in Iceland ^^ Thanks All for fantastic answers and much faster than I anticipated too :D

I second this. It's a fantastic film.

If you want to be scared shitless go with Paranormal Activity. It petrified my superstitious ass.

If you want to play it light, check out older horror movies from the 60s and 70s. They tend to hit the right sort of balance of being spooky without ever being genuinely disturbing.

Personally, the first horror movie I watched was Audition (questionable if it's really horror, but it's marketted as such), and I still consider it one of the best. The whole film is basically one long tense build up to a pretty gruelling scene at the end, and it has a real emotional point which I find is absent in most other horror movies I've seen. Probably one to avoid for now, but just throwing it out as my favourite.

As long as it's not 'I spit on your grave' I'm sure you'll be fine. :p

Hrm...

Starting out, and trying to appeal to a young girl, I'd recommend "Ginger Snaps" (a Canadian indie movie) or Let the Right One In.

They're on the cusp of the "horror" category, really. Ginger Snaps would prolly work well for teenage girls. Of course, I watched it several years ago, so I don't remember much but that it was alright and not scarring for a horror movie.

Let the Right One In is the best vampire movie I've seen. But its really... Well, if she likes vampires as glorified superpowered supermodels who still get to play the victim, she prolly wouldn't like this too much.
But even if you don't watch this one with her, I still recommend it.

Silent Hill was decent. Different from the games, yes, and not half as bad as diehard SH games make it out to be.

I just don't watch much horror, so I can't really say much else.

EDIT:

Oh, oh, wait! Hard Candy. Its awesome. Again, more thriller than horror, but its a great movie that would get you bonus points 'cause men who do bad things to women get their asses kicked.

Really? I thought that movie was boring, way too long for its (non existing) plot, and unoriginal. You didn't really get any proper explanations for anything, either.

You could not figure out the plot? I thought it was really self explanatory. As for explanations... You were expecting an explanation from something that was meant to be left up to the viewers interpretation?

Show her the Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Thats a fantastic film, it will drive her in-sayayayayayain!

Dah Doo De do do doooooooooooooo
THIS.

Also, it's not really horror as such, but it's still pretty tense and has some horror-ish moments... Donnie Darko.

It's not a horror, but it has a very dark tone and some moments are just damn creepy. I'd say it would be a good one to start off with. It's not too scary, and at the same time it also has a semi-romantic story.

If you're watching it with someone you wanna date in the near future who's never seen a horror movie, show her something tame, like The Ring or One Missed Call (the American version of the first, the Japanese version of the latter). Then move up from there, if the opportunity presents itself.

TL;DR : What horror movie should one show to a girl you like without to much blood splatter?
Depends on the girl. What is her taste in films, generally speaking? Answer this and I'll recommend you a nice "crossover" horror film.
