If I would make a game, it would be about normal people, being captured and set free on an island. The only way to get off the island is to kill all the other people. That would be an awesome multi-player game.
i think i herd of an anime like that
BATTLE ROYALE?! HOW CAN NOBODY KNOW IT?!

All fanboyism aside, that'd be a great idea. Especially for a v.r. game in the future.

A true life simulator, which has a full world for you to explore. You can go anywhere, you can go to Africa, Asia, Europe, etc. You can choose from thousands of jobs, from cook, garbage man, astronaut, professor, etc. You can choose to have children or not, you can choose to be a soldier or a terrorist. I want it to be a real life simulator, and give you true freedom.
But then people would cry, "If it's just like real life, why would you play it?"

Just a thought.

Eh a game where you are a very intelligent cat who has a goal to take over the ancient world, you will start in egypt because they were suckers for cats, and then from there you will expand your empire going to war with other countries, you can also befriend/ally with other animals or kill other animals getting in your way and stuff like that...yeah I won't be a good developer.

This is why your thread has a "would" in it. Go and find someone to finance a project like that.

You could answer: "It's a hell of a fuckin lot cheaper and you can go from place to place quicker than IRL."

But yeah, people would still cry, including me.

Original doesn't mean bad. It might seem like that with swarms of knock-offs upon knock-offs...

I've always wanted to try several things. One being a mecha based mmo that requires actively participating in piloting and skill instead of just pushing a button to achieve whatever result like most mmo's do.
I would also want to make a updated expansive version of ONI possibly using the crytec-engine.

I think it would lend itself well to it.

As for the true life simulator, why would I want to come home from work so I could go to work?

I'd buy it. Especially if one of the difficulties was "reality warp".

That'd be hilarious.

I would make games that are controversial, IE, games where you aren't a space marine mowing down legions of aliens or zombies, or an Allied one-man army mowing down an army of Nazis/Japs without remorse. I would make a game wherein the main character is a Jew that must stealth his way out of a concentration camp in Nazi Germany. He wouldn't know that much about how to fire guns, so the kick-back from the guns would be a major pain in the ass if he decides to pick up the guns. He would have to bandage his wounds in a similar fashion to the main character from Farcry2. Everyone would speak German and would have subtitles complacent with the language of the country that the person bought the game in. It would be one of the few first-person shooters where you can see your body when you look down.

That may have partially been already sort of done.

HUGE Rayman rip-off.

I'd make a first person crime, shooter/puzzler/stealth/brawler (what ever gameplay is required at that point) Sort of open world, open ended, game. set in the 1930's, where 2 (3?) black brothers make their way from the southern, racist states of America to New York by train-surfing, hitching rides with smugglers, and doing favours for mobsters in bigger cities. weapons like; tommy guns; bolt action rifles, magnums/pistols, knives (rakes?) ect. Open stealth inviroments for stealing swag. multiple path way missions, non moral choices e.g. follow your brother(s) down an ally, for one mission, or go to a bar for another whilst your brother(s) attempt that mission.

Running through muddy ditches hidding under bridges and roleing in mud then jumping in the undergrowth to escape your persuers (who have a grudge, which needs thinking of, against you)

Getting in big old Merc BIG 600 style cars and assisting mobsters, getting protection money or making "hits" in order to buy new weapons and or ammo or a car (maybe parts for a broken down car(?)

you could put the weapon making skill in it like from fallout but more DIY melee weapons like broken glass+rags+stick to make an improv dagger, or it could be how you get your first weapon.
this is an awesome idea for a game btw

i would let the general public decide what the games story, gameplay, backstory, setting etc. be like and then sell it to them.
yeah,if someone outside of game company employment sends you an idea for a game, you can't legally use it,it's under some kind of law to protect the individuals ideas from being taken.so good luck with making a great game that gets you thrown in jail before it gets released.

Remake EVO: Search for Eden. If not, a monster battling game like Pokemon where your monsters aren't robots that follow your every command. That and the grind is what killed Pokemon for me back in the day, which ironically made Digimon World look much superior.

Another thing I would do if I were a video game developer, I would make a game where you are a black slave that must get to the northern states, where you will be free.

I would make a game set in pre world war two nazi Germany, where you play Roland Verhouser, a world war one verteran who has just been assigned as an agent in Hitler's secret agency devoted toward finding and utilizing supernatural power for the upcoming invasion (by the way, the organization is secret because Hitler is afraid that if anybody found out that they would make fun of him, so there is a bit of self mockery). The agency has just been established and no one really knows what to do, so your boss (who doesn't really know what he's doing either) sends you off to investigate some "strange happenings" he heard two drunk old farts jabbering on about in a bar. You go to investigate the "strange happenings" by going to a little village and doing some investigation. You are eventually led to an old building where you find a shitload of crucified bodies. You sneak up to the second floor and peer through the keyhole with some light coming out of it. You see some weirdos doing some weird ritual around some symbols. They start talking about how they're an ancient mystical cult who have magic powers and stuff. You're character is sceptical and shows his scepticism by kicking down the door, whipping out a luger, and gunning down every freak in the room (guess they weren't so mystical after all). It is at this point that the game turns from 96% gritty realism and 4% jokes, to 15% gritty realism and 85% jokes. The game will then make sure to carry out every video game cliche around and then make fun of it.

Yeah, I actually played that one for six months trying to see what all my friends were on about. Realized I was actually paying them to work a second job, quit and never have had even the slightest temptation to return to the game.

I would make a game where you Walter, the flying ferret, who lives in the Rocky Mountains . You are trying to find and fight the lava hippo who lives in the Amazon , she has done something bad to you that I cant think of yet. I would make her a near impossible final boss, one where you would have to use almost all you resources/powers and make it a memorable fight. I would make this a platformer/action game, probably add some RPG elements too. Walter can only fly in the day, and then you have a flight bar that lowers when you fly, but refills when your not flying. You fight with your claws, teeth, clubs, swords, throwing knives, arrows, and other weapons. You also have the power of wind, which also has a bar that refills when you dont use it. This power of wind is flexible, you can do many things, like lifting and throwing rocks/water, and even making weather, like hail and tornadoes.
I posted this on a different thread, not with this much detail though.

So then you can live a life you couldn't live. If you were say, a business man and you wanted to be an astronaut, you can at least experience the job. I forgot to mention this in my previous post, but I would like it if it was a VR simulation.

Something with vampires that don't sparkle, so all the gamers can be happy again.

Maybe a stealth/action/horror/platformer/RPG...

...With gliding...

Maybe like a cross between Splinter Cell: Conviction and Spiderman in gameplay? :p Rofl. Hang from the ceiling and drop onto a guard and bite his neck off, then glue him to the ceiling with some black evil ooze.
