I'm not entirely sure why they chose to get rid of the backwards compatibility in the first place. I would've been a major selling point.
I think it was to force people to keep buying PS2s. Can't say it didn't work, PS2s are still selling after all this time.

I'm good with what they're giving me. If you want backwards compatibility, buy a PS2. Not so hard.
obviously you have a ps2?.

i do not. as i bought a PS3 thinking sony would continue BC.

why would i pay 150 dollars or more! just to play my ps2 games?

simple..Software emulation! if they re-introduced it onto ps3's EVEN the 40g's iwould be happy.
I don't because I don't care about the PS2, and PS2s are about $50, not $150.
walmart retails ps2's for $99.99 up here in canada. then you have to buy memory cards and such..wich sometimes can be around 25 to 30 dollars depending on what you want. so after taxes?

$150.

I too would love PS2 backwards compatibility if just to make life a little easier for me than having to switch back and forth between both systems when playing certain games.

PS2 compatibility would be enough to have me buy a PS3. I got about 60 PS2 games. Only problem would be getting my Data from my 5 memory cards into it. I think I could use my PS2 Action replay to do that though. It has a data manager that works with USB flash drives.

Take a trip to the US.
Buy used PS2 from Gamestop for $50.
Pray that it works (most likely will, from my experience).
Have fun with it.

You could also order one from eBay or something similar. The best place to go for previous generation hardware is the used market.
ya money is kinda tight around here so a trip isnt all that good of an idea considering im 497 miles north of the border:)
ebay sounds good though:) didnt think of that

well played sir:)

OT: Personally I'm not too fussed, mainly because I didn't have anything important on PSN. What I would like is for the service to come back on again...
The way they were doing it cost way, way too much. That's part of the reason why release PS3s were like $800.

I'm just happy the PSN is back up. Although, gimme some nicer avatars or themes or something. Or a voucher for a movie download from the store. :)

Just give us some PlayStation Store credit so we can buy whatever we want with it. Out of the games they're proposing, none really interest me. I already have Infamous, I don't like LittleBigPlanet that much, I hate WipeOut, Stardust looks meh, and so does Dead Nation.

PS2 games as digital releases with an emulator to run on the PS3. Failing that, a signed letter from every executive at Sony promising to keep the NGP region-free.

Or, you know, free games. Works for me.

Well, since we're being picky...

I would have liked to have the choice to get two games of my choice. I know we're getting 2 games for free anyway, but I would have liked to choose which game I want rather than to choose 2 out of the 5 choices given. I'm happy with inFamous but that's it. I'll probably get LBP or Wipeout, but it's not like I'm excited about it.

But you know what? I'm not one to look at a gift horse in the mouth. I think we all know Sony is sorry and us gamers are a bit butthurt. Free games, along with a free month of PSN+ and all that jazz sounds good enough for me.
