What If a Fantasy Game Took Place In the Modern Day

Well, Harry Potter has magic, wizards, elves and a bunch of other mythical creatures, does that count?

I already have a game series idea that involves space marines who can use magic and ODST-style elves etc, so I hope no one does that before I do. >_>

There's at least one game that is about mythological creatures attacking a modern-day city. It was an FPS. Apparently, it was also a terrible game.

Legendary, right?

I like the idea of this. Kind of like Artemis Fowl but proper violent.

Have one about witches in the modern day learning to balance living in the modern world with dealing with magical mishaps. Like having to clean up the mess some idiot teenagers made when they summoned The Great Makagvakoog, Skullfucker of the Ninth Realm. Deal with vampires, werewolves, fey creatures, succubi, bogeymen, and ethereal creatures. But also having to deal with cops, thugs, gangs, and other things of the modern era that are unaware of the mystical.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer the RPG (or at least set in that universe)? Angel? What's that other one with the adult witches? I only saw fleeting glimpses of it's awfulness as I flicked through channels.

I'm starting to remember my idea for an elder scrolls game in a fantasy version of world war 2. With places like Akavir and the Summerset Isles as a fantasy version of the Axis and the Empire as a fantasy version of the allies or the Empire could not exist at all now and be a bunch of different countries.

There aren't many Western made fantasy games that stray too far from the Tolkien setup where Elves live in forests with bows, Dwarves live underground with axes, and the humans are all troublesome assholes. Put simply, I've never seen a dragon, a pistol, and a skyscraper all within the same game and I think this is a problem.

Shadowrun. Fantasy + cyberpunk. Has had incarnations on the SNES, XBOX 360 and tabletop.

It's close....ish? I do wish the HP series had spent a lot more time going into the relations between the magical and non-magical world. Maybe an adult series based in the HP universe?
