Ah, this one's simple: Grab shotguns and blow off their mouths.

No biting means no way to infect you. Also, if you do blow off their whole head with a shottie, then they'd have no way of finding you.

-The head is extremely important to all would-be monsters. I think this is why Romero when with the "head shot to kill" thing. It's not only a difficult target to hit if you don't have training with a weapon (which the common man doesn't, thus adding tension to the Zombie infestation flick), and its also the one place nothing can recover from.

Well, maybe vampires can come back...
