Why do we even have a contest here? COD is stale as stale can be. I'm not saying that as a BF3 fanboy, since I've never really liked the series, but COD has become boring and generic, with continuous explosions and shouting trying to distract you from the fect that it's out of ideas.

It'll mean that it'll be wicked! If Infinity are staying on for the next CoD installment and DICE keep improving on some fantastic work then it really will be a great year for present day FPS. If it's those two devs battling it out then it'll be interesting to see which one pulls out in front.

Of course, if the rumours of Infinity Ward having the Call of Duty franchise taken off them are true then it's high time to watch someone take down the Call of Duty franchise for good.
Those aren't really rumors now. If I remember correctly, the two heads of IW left and soon half of the team followed suit. They're trying to get the CoD licence from Activision but I think ACtivision is just too stubborn to let it go.
Some google searching has now made me sad. Looks like IW is still together for now but looking to recruit new people to replace all those that left. It could be a fantastic renovation to the series (like MW was in the first place) or could be the end.

Save us Cliff Blezinski!

Better doesn't mean popular. And I hope that Battlefield doesn't become overly popular, because I feel it will end up attracting the wrong gamer crowd. If CoD wins, it means less "shoot everything that moves" people will stay out of Battlefield and leave it for the ones who kinda care about battlefield (hence the name) tactics.

That means absolutely nothing to me. Battlefield and Call of Duty are perfectly fine for their target audiences, but I'm just tired of the realistic shooter genre.

What if? It won't change anything. There will be people who like Battlefield, there will be people who like cod, and there will be people like me, who are (through some magical procedure that takes a massive amount of brainpower) able to own both battlefield and cod and enjoy both! :O

Welcome to the Escapist to start,

and second you're doing it wrong. There's a quote/reply button on the right there.

OT: I am completely faithful Battlefield 3 will come out on top.

I can't see how it will mean anything to me or the games industry at all. Generic shooter B topples Generic shooter A. Oh god.

Unfortunately, it won't. If it were to, however, it would most likely start a trend of vehicular elements in our bland FPS games, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

If BF3 doesn't better in sales than the next CoD then people will buy it and Infinity Ward/ Treyarch would have to step it up to out sell BF next time.

Maybe it'll get Madden Warfare X to upgrade in some significant way. Nah, who am I kidding, it'll be the same engine they've been using since Call of duty 3, 4 and a half hours of gameplay, and 3-4 $15 map packs.

Battlefield hasn't had a good campaign mode yet.

Don't expect them to start now...

So, the MP will be great.

And sales will be great.

But beat CoD? In sales?

HAHAHAHA

I will fall to my knees in the realization that there is hope for humanity for they have seen that call of duty is the same game re-released every year.

I want battlefield 3 to stay unpopular. Call of Duty used to be the secretly awesome game to play when all the people who thought they were cool were playing halo. Then once Modern Warfare came out everyone jumped ship. It made playing Call of Duty less fun when every 8 year old and there grandpa started playing it. Now battlefield bad company 2 has been the game of choice for legit fps gamers.
My hope is battlefield 3 stay unpopular from the Black Ops crowd and is left alone by the "I only play the popular games" crowd.

I would be happy. But it may also make more games become "Battlefield Clones" instead of "CoD Clones."
