What if Hyrule WAS the Mushroom Kingdom?

I know this is the most insane thing you've ever heard, but what if Hyrule was the Mushroom Kingdom, but millions of years into the past?
So what would have happened was that the majority of life and culture in Hyrule was obliterated by some apocalyptic force, save for some primitive life-forms that would eventually evolve into the creatures that inhabit the Marioverse!

Discuss ramifications, or alternate theories as to the link itself, no pun intended.

Hm. I would think it to be the other way around; Mushroom Kingdom evolved into Hyrule. Anyway...
I doubt it if that was the case. The Mushroom Kingdom's ground is mostly made up of bricks, which doesn't support plant life very well save for the occasional tree or bush. Hyrule field is very... green.

If Hyrule turned into the M.K., I suppose that the slanted block hill could be the remains of an old building... and the lone fences could be remains as well... but where did those floating bricks come from? Must be advanced alien technology to keep it suspended in the air. hmmm... so maybe the M.K. IS in the future.

I've seen Goombas in a Zelda game, and Shyguys. Possibly the fish too.

Anyway, this was be amusing as hell. Imagine getting a mushroom. "Da-nah-nah-nah!"

The only problem is things like Moblins with their weapons and all, as opposed to enemies you just hop on.
