Shadowrun. The idea of a great FPS based of off a great RPG made highschool me so excited by the possibility of a potentially fantastic campaign that blended guns, magic, and tech, with the ability of cross platform multiplayer just icing on the cake. The lack of a single player campaign and a shitty multiplayer experience just broke my heart.

I'm not fully on board with that 'cause i try to follow Yahtzee's logic of just assuming everything's shit until it's proven itself otherwise. "It's never to late to start/stop being shit"

But i'm a blind fanboy of the Uncharted series so the thought that the third one would suck never even struck me, and when it finally was released and people said it wasn't as good as the previous one i just didn't get that.

Oh wait... as i'm writing i seem to remember that i thought Arkham City would be pretty good since they added a bunch of cool villains and then it all just fell pretty flat because they spread themselves too thin. I loved Arkham Asylum and the only thing i'm lacking in the game is the challenge medals for a platinum. Arkham City on the other hand... i haven't even gotten through half the story yet.

TES V: Skyrim. I can't do the quests without spiders. I can't get to Winterhold without the quests. So there I was succumbing to my fear of Spiders and Mudcrabs.
There's a mod for it that replaces the spiders with bears.

Not sure what to do about the mud crabs, but there's a mod that makes them swear so I guess that can at least take the edge off.

At least there's no giant mudcrab mod.

Oh wait.

So far every game I have actually followed the making of and news, has been no less then good.

Of last year, the two I followed the most in the making, was Pokemon White, and Dragon Age 2.

Both turned out to be fantastic. DA2 was #2 in my top five games of last year.

Though their haven't been that many game purchases that I've been disappointed in.

My first real disappointment for my 360 came when I pre-ordered the collector's edition of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 in 2010. If you don't horse around and try to find collectables and power-ups, it is a four hour game at best. Though points were gained through the later special costume DLC only being a dollar, and the Endor DLC allowing me to Force punt Ewoks into the sky, never to return.

Another sort of recent disappointment purchase came after I followed and decided to pre-order Dragon Age 2, but the disappointment didn't come from that game. I thought since I hadn't played DA:Origins yet, I would purchase the Ultimate Edition of it and try to finish at least one play through before DA2 got released three months later. I just couldn't do it, most everything about DA:Origins is just hosed up and outdated, even for the time it was release. I could only get in a little over 20 hours of gameplay, before I gave up because I wasn't going to wade through it just for the sake of getting through it.

Luckily I decided not to cancel my pre-order of Dragon Age 2, because I knew from following the making, that they were making a lot of fixes of mistakes they made with DA:O, and that it was a different type of story. I was thrilled with that purchase, because DA2 turned out to be worlds better than DA:O; BioWare had fixed all the things I saw as problems in DA:O, the only flaw was the semi-repeat dungeons, thought since the rest was phenomenal I didn't mind.

I once bought a Bleach game.
Never again, unless it's PROVEN TO BE AWESOME first by someone else.
That I know, or I get to try it first, but otherwise not buying.

For a moment I have that with all games really. Especially the ones I bought on launch day. Like: "I Just spend 60? on this game and.. well.. SOmething tells me games will never reach the same levels of fun as Donky Kong Country used to when I was a kid. Hrm... OH wel let's pop it in and see what it's about."

Mind you this is the short & abridged version of my thoughts ;)

I decided to buy a modern console so I could play it. Then I saw what they did in videos and reviews. Then I played lots of other games and never tried it and never will, at any price.
Good plan, it will save your sanity.

I've never really suffered this. The last upcoming title I got really hyped for was Going Rogue, the expansion for City of Heroes - and that was in my opinion the best thing they'd ever done.

However I expect to be doing this quite a lot when id starts releasing info about Doom 4. Already I'm telling myself it'll be a return to the classic Doom gameplay and therefore the best pure FPS in years, and I'm not listening to the small cynical voice at the back of my mind whispering "Call of Duty clone..." and "Rage had vehicle sections..."

Batman Arkham City.

I enjoyed Arkham Asylum so much, it had a great atmosphere, Arkham City looked like it improved on everything with a more interesting storyline.

The game came out. I finished it in about 8 hours. I had to do one of the dungeons twice. It was so disappointing.

More effort had been spent making the Riddler challenges scattered around the City than making the Story I felt. So disppointing.

a little more thease days since my standards have been risen slightly...BUT

1. it still doesnt take too much to impress me..I'm a long way from Yahtzee

2. I keep my expectations realistic..is revelations going to be as good as AC2? of coarse NOT! this 1 game a year thing is bullshit. same with bioshcok 2..but I'll enjoy thease games for what they are

3. I kind of loathe people who seem to nitpick at EVERYTHING so I make a point of not being like that, also words like "suck" get thrown around too much..people generally dont have much perspecitve when it comes to thease things

4. I always wait for reveiws (duh, you only have yourself to blame in that case)

4. the only game I have concerns over is ME3....BUT I loved ME2 so even if its at that level It should be good, the "mulitplayer" is a bit of a warning sign though...that said when it comes out I'll be taking time off the escapist..that game is a big deal to me and I dont want another dragon age 2 situation

Amongst the many parts of my brain screaming to me that 'The Last of Us' will be even better than Uncharted 3 there's a small part of me saying what if? What if it's another zombie shooter and the only thing it has going for it is good console graphics and a tried and tested developer?

It happened with FO:NV too. I was so hyped (FO3 is my favourite game) and to my dismay it wasn't what I had expected, I expected bugs to be ironed out, a gripping story, better graphics and a more diverse landscape. Still a good game but a little lackluster in my opinion.

E: I also never preorder anymore, New Vegas was the first and last. I could've gotten it much cheaper had I waited.
its interesting...It seems that some fans who HATED FO3 (probably because of its differences to 1 and 2) like NV alot better

personally I actually prefer the setting/atmosphere in FO3..but NV (aside from the glitches which I didnt get too many of) does many things alot better..story, moral choices, charachters all that..I think Obsidian has the potential to be awsome..

Portal 2? It is still very very good, but its not as good and enthralling as the first one. Once I saw that they are introducing a new, major character into the game, I know the game will be bugging me. But I do realise that making a sequel to Portal that have about the same quality is a Herculean task.

Hellgate London also comes to mind. It is such a long time ago. I am pretty hyped due to my mind thinking, "oh wow, Diablo + Guns, what could go wrong?" But yeah, once I saw the somewhat lackluster Main Menu and character creation part, I just know that the game will be shit + boring.

FFXIII and Dead Island ....
FFXIII was hyped to the roof before it got released and i was really looking forward to buy it until square enix said they couldn't add towns because they were lazy(no i'm not joking. look it up) and fan-boys said it's because the plot said so. when i saw the 1st trailer of dead island, i was hooked until i rented the game and it was cluster bugs of a game (much like sonic 06 but worse)

to be fair though I REALLY dont see how people can be "that" disapointed with portal 2 considering how well loved the first one is

I mean its also a different kind of game, they had to take the original and "exapnd" on it and by god they did (yes I LOVE portal 2) it didnt have that kind of minimalism it had before, and Im totally fine with that...because that made it worth its full price tag

they couldnt please everyone..make it small Im sure some would complain...(because I wouldnt pay $$ for 3 hours...co-op or not)

ok sorry rant over.

Dragon Age: Origins broke my heart.

And I really want to see the Mass Effect series end on a high note, but deep down I know it will try its hardest to insult me.

Dragon Age 2, which was really weird.
Every News about the game just screamed "It will be shit" in my face, but i, idiot that i am, just kept thinking:
It's Bioware, they make good games, It's Bioware, they make good games, It's Bioware, they make good games.

I later cursed myself for buying that game.

Pretty much Alone in the Dark.

I was fool to believe the trailer I saw were the same quality for the Wii espically the fire demostration.

Thanks to that game I only buy games that have been reviewed first or it's a big name like Mario or Legend of Zelda.

The new deus ex. I hesitated to buy it, finally bought it, played for 3 hours, hated it, never even hovered over the icon since.

I'll be honest here, I love the ME franchise but I am seriously worried about how their going to wrap up the trilogy.
You got to think like I do, THEY CANT FAIL!!!
I say this for two reasons: 1) its Bioware and the have made two amazing ME games already 2) they cant fail, its not an option but if they do they will be more hated then EA and Activision combined!

OT: I was so hyped for Red Alert 3 with its awesome visuals, cool combat and well... it was RED ALERT 3!!!

But those dreams were utterly destroyed as soon as I started playing. Really poor acting from good actors, bad script, disappointing combat and just all around really bad. Only plus was the hot girls in it(especally Natasha:p) but if I want pics and videos of hot girls I can just google some for free and not pay 400 swedish krona(about 60 bucks) for it!
