Being very hype to play Shadow Warrior 2 and after I learned it is somehow like a FPS Diablo game [Random Generated Maps, Enemies, Item Drops, etc.], I though what if in this Chaotic randomness there was others playable characters who are known for using katana like weapons you could select knowing you can play 4 players together. Or even enemies and areas from other titles from different videogames/movies/comics/etc.

To make it more interesting Can you suggest 3 Modern/Futuristic Katana Users, 1 for each category? Videogames/TV/Comics
Here are my selections I have in mind now what kind of cool partners Lo Wang could had:

Vengeful Heroine *Ronin*

Snake Eye *G.I.JOE*

Blade *Blade*

To help you for your selection, here is a link with a TV Trope for Katana Users:

Cheers!!!

Why katanas of all things would't a short sword be better since its easier to carry/hold and still has the better reach than a knife

Because katanas are cool, and are more pleasing to the eye. A katana made old school style is a work of art.

Mostly because Lo Wang's main Weapon is a Katana. That it.
Plus a Team of 4 Katana Wielders sound more awesome.

I thought you will be able to play in 4-player co-op in SW2, each player having a diferent melee weapon. Which is cooler imho, cause you can play as gorier version of ninja turtles, basicly.

As for Katana users: Raiden/Jestream have been taken, so i got nothing.

Katanas have that sleek, exotic look, but that doesn't mean other swords can't be cool. Or works of art.

Lo Wang being master of near everything deadly to his hand, he can take any kind of role. Like the other Katana users as well.

Like, so far with the entries we have, I can picture Lo Wang, Blade, Deadpool and Travis Touchdown [yes, he count because if you update a lot, you get an actual shape katana beam sword] having a great time slaughtering and destroying any kind of menace in front of them.

Yes, I know. I was comparing katanas to the posters example of a short sword, which is a pretty utilitarian weapon (I imagine it as what the Roman's used. Not exactly pretty, but it gets the job done).

You know what, I take it back, the gladius looks pretty cool :p
But yeah, there is a bunch of mysticism in the making/use of a katana, and that's what people like about it.

You wouldn't want an immortal on your team?
Duncan might be too serious for the group though, hah. I think Deadpool and Wang would get along great.

They used that sword because their metallurgy wasn't that impressive, as technology advanced swords could become longer and thinner.

Personally, though, I don't see being utilitarian as being a drawback for a serious weapon of war. Looking nice is a bonus, but you want something that'll help keep you alive.

To be that guy, katanas in general are over rated, they have the durability of wet tissue paper and are that way due to incredibly shitty japanese iron.
Once they pound the negative impurities out, Japanese iron becomes some of the world's higher quality high carbon steel. Really the shitty iron ore thing is more a myth of WWII than anything else anyways. Katanas have poor durability because of how they're forged, which is specifically to cut through flesh and bone. Since all metals are rather hard to obtain in Japan, metal plate armor tends to be ceremonial, not functional, because they had so little access to metal. Katanas have brittle and extremely hard tempered blades, this is done for a reason. Katanas also have convex blades unlike any other classic blade, because of the special way they're sharpened. As a result, so long as the blade hits nothing harder than bone, it'll retain it's cutting edge essentially indefinitely. The tempering process, where the scalloping on the blade side shows, that's what makes katanas brittle. Still that only matters if the katana hits something hard enough to chip off the outer layer of tempered steel.

Ok, I don't know why everyone is trying to correct me over things that were never said.

Some right, some wrong. You fold steel to spread the impurities out so you don't have one point getting stressed and breaking, though folding does effectively remove carbon specifically. The steel still wasn't especially good, but was forged in such a way as to take advantage of the fact that, yes, the Japanese didn't really do metal armor.

Funnily enough the Scandinavians had a similar problem with poor iron and they developed several of the same techniques the Japanese did. They didn't get as sophisticated though since they figured out they could just take better made Frankish/Gaulish/Celtic/Germanic/whatever swords from their dead enemies [/metal AF]

Plus Deadpool is alrady a more "real" immortal. Well all tigether can be buddies, but ai miscalculated and Blad is in the team. The Part pooper of the team. Maybe other kind of geek character who like katanas?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. But in all seriousness, not to sound like some kind of sword hipster here, but katanas are by far the most overrated weapon. That's not to say they're bad, just that "nerd culture" is absolutely obsessed with them to the point that when I think of katanas, I don't think of badass warriors from Japan, I think of a bunch of fedora-wearing weeaboos muttering about their 1000 folds.
They've kind of become a joke now.

Understandable, but I wish i can see a legit character like the second photo you posted.
He is wearing a fedora, a tie, a coat, boots and an army trouser. I LOVE IT!!!

Also I change the vote of Ronin Girl and I want to put Saija from Raw Data:

We need more Female Cyborg Ninjas.
