What if Saints Row 3, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, and MW3 (if you're still into that) turn out to be bad?

Like if they're all bad? I don't know.

I'd probably fall into a catatonic state if Skyrim somehow manages to be complete shit, but honestly based off of what I've seen, it will literally be impossible for me not to enjoy it.

MW3 I've already kinda quit expecting them to make any new leaps and bounds, so I pretty much already know what it's gonna be like. I'm gonna put maybe two or three days into it, then if I'm lucky, I might finally be over my Modern FPS phase.

Never really gave two shit about Saints Row 3 in the first place.

And to be perfectly honest, Mass Effect 2 didn't get fun for me till the end of the game when my team started dying off and I had made set relationships with everyone. The combat, most of the side quests, and the tedious planet exploring things that help your ship (I will never understand who actually thought that was a good idea over at Bioware), were pretty boring to me.

I'm sure I'll like ME3, but I doubt I'll play it more than once.

I don't know, wait for the next promising game to come along and, in the meantime, see if I can find any good games that have flown under the radar or came out in the past that I didn't play before.

I generally avoid following the development of a game I'm moderately interested in until they have substantial work to show via trailers, interviews etc leading up to the last few weeks before release. Even then games like Brink, Dragon Age 2 and Crysis 2 I honestly knew next to nothing about when they were released, even though I was thoroughly looking forward to them. Often it's a good choice on my part so I'm not building myself up for disappointment, honestly I was shocked at how much I hated Crysis 2 and how unremarkable Dragon Age 2 was compared to what I had heard about it prior. Brink though, I loved.

I guess it's just a case of not getting overly hyped over something so that if it turns out to be disappointing I'm not having my expectations shattered; Vice versa if it's a fantastic game in the end then I can be ecstatic.

To the specific games in question though, well I've only ever bought CoD games well after they were released out of casual interest, so MW3 doesn't worry me. Saints Row: The Third I've only recently become interested in due to finally playing the second and loving it. All the same though I've only watched a few trailers - I'm not actively seeking to limit what I know about the game, I just don't care to drive myself crazy with hype at this point.

And Mass Effect 3? Well... damn. There's no way around it, every mention of Mass Effect gets me riled up in a tizzy of excitement that's quite uncontrollable. Contrary to what I've said thus far Mass Effect has been the one game I've been going out of my way for to feed my addiction to the series. I'm going to be dying of anticipation by the time it comes out, so if it does turn out to be bad... Well honestly, I'll probably be pretty mentally inconsolable. Nothing physical, but anytime Mass Effect comes to mind it'll leave a bad taste in my mouth after that.
It'll be made worse by the fact that at current I really can't see them screwing the game up enough to have me disappointed by it. Of course I'm sure there will be parts that are less than adequate in comparison to what I was expecting, but the game would have to be pretty damn awful as a whole for me to be heartbroken by it. If that were the case though, honestly I don't fully know how I'd react, I've yet to be setup this badly for a release before.

Which is why I'm waiting for the reviews. In today's world of Digital distribution there is no risk of games being out of stock at your local store. So pre-orders don't really offer much.

only saints row 3 is a guarantee not to suck in my books. that being said skyrim is already on the preorder list.I'd be more worried if rage sucks because I want it to be good.

So long as Skyrim turns out to be somewhat better than Oblivion, I and others will be sold on it. But from what I've seen it will far surpass that. MWF3 is just a copy paste with a new lure on it. I can't speak for the other games since I've never played their prequels.

If somehow Skyrim flops..... I'd be one sad dude.

Get mad, say bummer, and play anyway, no matter how bad a game is I play it, hell I even went through all three fables and had a lot of fun with them. Only one game has been so bad that I couldn't play it and that was The Mark of Kri.

Well, I care very little about Saint's Row and Modern Warfare. If Skyrim sucks, I'll be a little disappointed but I won't really care. And I'm for some reason kind of expecting Mass Effect 3 is going to suck, but I'm getting it anyway to finish the story.

So... basically I don't really care if any of them suck.

The odds of any of the games in the heading being serious disappointments is pretty slim. Hence the appeal of franchises. You pretty much know what you're getting when you buy it.

No one quite knew what to expect from Brink & Homefront, so the hype machine was able to boost expectations past the realistic.

Of the major games coming before the end of the year, I figure Rage is the biggest risk of a major disappointment. It could be awesome, but it's so unlike anything id has released before, it's an unknown quantity. Only thing anyone knows about it is from the hype machine.

I'll probably just laugh, since I don't want any of the games, and I think it's a funny coincidence it all the games suddenly are bad.

Then I'd go back to TF2.

It's been proven by top scientists that Saints Row 3 will be the best game ever created.

Saints Row 3 - Can't say...
Mass Effect 3 - Well, it is BioWare, so it will probably be another bland and boring novel, but if you like that kinda thing, I could see it being good.
Skyrim - Will probably be like Halo in the sense that it will be decent as best, but all the hype and fanboys going on about it and treating it like a gift from god will bring it from decent to bad.
MW3 - Will probably be like MW2 and BLops, if not worse.

I would frown and leave to buy it in the far future if at all, like I did with Red Dead Redemption.

Saints' Row 3 sucking is a definite impossibility, though. It's a game has you jump from a plane, then have a shootout with people while free-failling, than jump back into the plane, then jump back out of the plane again.

Then again, Red Faction: Guerilla was a game about destroying everything in Mars and it sucked, so who knows?

If they're all bad? Probably just play some old games, no big deal. I already played my big game of the year (Human Revolution) and loved it, so anything else is excessive at this point.

I'd probably go back to some old games, I dunno.

Edit: Besides, my faith in Bethesda or BioWare isn't nearly high enough for their games to live up to the hype anyway. (Don't get me wrong, I like both quite a bit, but the hype is just ridiculous.)

Worst case scenario: Skyrim ends up like New Vegas, a lot of bugs at first launch, that mask what turns out to be a great game.
Mass Effect 3 has had EA's hand in its development, and everyone knows that the only thing EA does decently is Madden.
Never played a Saints Row game, so i cannot comment on that.
