What If Someone Remade Star Wars?

Well, my dad and I were talking the other day about the HD release of the Star Wars (NO!NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) and he made a comment about how good the Star Wars movies could be if someone else had made them. Everything done by other people.
So, if YOU had to choose, who would you have remake the entire series? I might have to go with a Peter Jackson/Guillermo Del Toro combo punch.

Im kind of really tired of the Star Wars universe. After years and years (and years) of people spoofing and referencing these kind-of-meh movies, I am a little sick of it.

I think it'd be cooler if they remade some of the older movies that originated from books (i.e. Lonesome Dove or the Dune trilogy)

I thought they did in the form of three sequels which themselves got a remake in the form of an animated movie and then two cartoon series.

Though I dont know. Star wars seems to be one of those things where you just dont remake it cause it would never live up to it. Its like when you see someone remake dracula, or King Kong, or if someone tried to remake the Seventh seal or 12 angry men. Sure you can, but it wont be as good as the original, because it wont hold the same placea nd regard in cinematic history that the originals do.

Pretty much this. Every time a new format comes out, they remake the movie substantially, and typically ruin key points in the narrative. It's kinda unfortunate really.

basically anyone besides Gearge Lucas, he's had enough time "perfecting" his movies time for somebody else anybody else to step to the plate and give it a go.
(i'd love to remake the movies myself actually, make them like i remember them, awesome.)

Someone remaking the prequels to not suck would be awesome since I actually like Star Wars expanded universe stuff and the like, I'm not adverse to stories outside of the original trilogy and takes on the universe beyond George Lucas. Regarding the original trilogy, just leave them alone, they're perfect the way they are (Except maybe Jedi), GL needs to stop messing with them before they become straight up remakes...

I would only choose to remake it when I in the future (25 years later). Hopefully only few of the younger generation had seen it and there are not many of older generation (us) left to complain about it.

How about George Lucas commit seppuku and we bury the prequels along with him and say he's forgiven, huh? Wouldn't that make everyone happy?

And like Lucas we should put Star Wars to rest forever and remember only the good things they left behind?

I must be the only person who liked the original 3 Star Wars movies but doesn't really give two shits about the actual Star Wars universe. The more I learn about the expanded universe, the less interesting Star Wars is to me.
