Wouldn't bother me - don't use steam.

So, I'd probably just laugh at all the people who WERE affected.

Thanks for the contribution guys. Maybe you could assume, as this forum clearly has nothing to do with you, that you needn't post anything. Why don't you go post "I don't care" on all the forum games?

Or you could think "what would I do if a steam equivalent I use such as XBL or something suddenly stopped?"

In that order?

It already has, for me. That's why I have to resort to free online shooters. It's not as bad as it sounds, actually.

My longing for Episode 3 would naturally be present through the course of events, and dying would (I assume) come last. Becoming overweight must come after eating, so only eating+being overweight are interchangeable (as one) with weeping.

And I thought that out far too much.

PC gamers would descend into a frenzied panic and wipe themselves out in the following anarchy while those of us who never used Steam in the first place would simply sit by, chuckle and ask 'Why is it such a big deal?'.

After that there would be a wide spread paranoia and discrimination between the 'loyalists' who stick to the PC and those who 'defect' and start playing consoles. Sure, it would just start off with petty name calling and trolling but before long there would be blood in the streets...I mean forums.

A nightmare vision, I know.
Ironic how they wouldn't see the big deal despite it being free and better than either PSN or XBL with cheaper game offers.

Steam is like a Mars bar; tastes great, you don't put on any extra pounds and it doesn't cost you a penny.

Coming from someone who uses Steam, I gotta say it's not that big of a deal. Valve's games get boring quite quickly(but they are fantastic), and it's extremely slow. I've given up on Half-Life 2 Episode 3 completely, as Gabe Newell probably deletes the final steam file to make more room for McDonalds pictures. Also, PC gaming is dead.

That would kinda suck. I have about 100 games on it, and according to Steam Calculator, it is worth about 1000 bucks. Hmm...

Risks of digital downloads I suppose.

I would first demand customer support from Valve. If it stopped because they were bankrupt or something, then I would get my games to work with other means...

Meh, my copy of Steam has gradually been fucking up more and more recently. In between crashes, refusing to accept that I've updated my drivers and 24+ hour installations, I wouldn't miss it if it died completely now.

It won't happen.
If Steam ever goes down, Valve has a failsafe patching system to remove the need for Steam to run their games, at least this is what I've heard from some reliable sources in the past.
Although, if this wasn't the case, I'd torrent the Non-Steam versions of all the games I'd bought (yes, only the ones I own, I'm no pirate) via Steam and continue playing.

Either way, it won't happen. Valve make too much money off Steam to ever let it go.

Wow. I didn't even know what steam was until people started bitching about it on these forums. I think there would be no appreciable difference except that instead of 'OMG no Dedicated servor for MW2' the cries would change to 'OMG no Steam.'

Then, after about a month of not having it, people would remember that they used to buy games by leaving the house, instead of vegetating.

I would be extremely upset at all the money I've wasted on Steam games, I will be upset at the future for not being able to get deals as good as the entire Counter-Strike collection for 15 bucks, and I would probably be strictly a 360 gamer...

I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy.
