Someone would just come up with a "no-steam" hack to continue playing games normally but without steam.

The world would suck a little more without steam though.
I'd play World of Warcraft while waiting for this to happen.

Thanks for the contribution guys. Maybe you could assume, as this forum clearly has nothing to do with you, that you needn't post anything. Why don't you go post "I don't care" on all the forum games?

Now this confuses me. As the OP clearly stated

What would YOU do?
And I merely answered with my response, ie I dont have steam therefore I would not care if this application stopped working.

So why dont all of you Shut the fuck up think about what the OP had stated before corrected me on such a trivial and incorrect assumption :)

EDIT: Well looky here, I actually am talking to the OP, well kind sir why dont you read what you said before quoting me mate :)

No coffee :p
Um... I guess someone would come up with a new interface to play games without steam.

I barely even know what steam was until I learned I needed to install it to play Dawn of War II. I have to say steam is pretty gay if you need it to play a game. Can someone explain what Steam is? I feel out of the loop.

Steam is a mix of digital distribution, digital rights management, and communications platform from Valve. It is also used as a community/social network for select games, as well as haboring a place to shop for digital distributed video games.

You can buy games on it, you can use it to chat with friends, you can use it to allow you to play games, and publishers use it to distribute games and as a form of DRM (that doesn't suck as much as the other options).

----------------

I'd be fairly angry, but not as much as someone else. I have some games on Steam but most of them were cheap and I enjoyed them thoroughly for a while (except 2 games, one I cannot play until I get a new PC and another that errors' up every time I try to start it).

Since I have such a bad PC I've been used to been left out of all the awesome games coming out recently, and being stuck with playing the same game for the last few years. I wouldn't smash objects and all that.

I wouldn't notice. I detest steam and the way it works. I want to be able to play my single player games without waiting for a quarter of an hour while steam boots up, and I don't want to rely on the internet for it either.
I'm gonna have to say that's probably your computer, more so than Steam. From the time Windows boots up on my machine, to the time I see the little friend boxes pop up in the corner, is about 30 seconds. I have never had a problem with Steam. It sounds like you just have old hardware.

Ouch? Is your computer okay? That sounds like a tech issue on your end than anything else.

I remember when a tree plunged into valves server room a few years back which pretty much killed of steam for a day. The post-apocalyptic uproar between my friends wasn't pretty, so I'd imagine that everyone who was planning to play games, would rage a forum about it instead.
Ding...

Exactly this. Expect the forums to explode with rage!
