You know people often say that EA buying Valve would be the worst thing ever I don't really have an opinion on this.

But I wonder what If Valve bought Electronic arts?

Discuss in the posts below my fellow escapists.

Current IP's would only get 2 games, with the third constantly being teased. Hats in every game. Games have a useless language filter for online multiplayer. Slowly Valve becomes as hated as EA was, causing PC gamers to turn to their new savior/total fucking bro, CD Projekt Red.

IPs would rarely get more then one sequel but nearly all gameplay DLC would be free. However Cosmetic Items and skins can be bought. Servers would work during a massive game release and the games would have Passive Online DLC where you only really need to connect your account once and you can be offline as much as you want after, and they would have a much better Online support. However their EULA would remain sketchy as fuck.

Also games will continue to get Content and attention for more then half a decade after their initial release.

You know, it helps if you add to the actual discussion OP. As in say what you reckon would happen to, rather then expecting us to entertain you with our discussion on the matter. Saying you have no opinion on it, but want to know seems kinda lazy.

OT: I think they would just sell most of the IP's off to companies that want them and literally dissolve EA, and merge it with themselves to combine resources. Some good could happen from it I'm sure, it's a big scenario and a lot could happen.

Gameapocolypse. when the balance between good and evil is erased, society will fall. first all forums would light up brighter than the sun. then. VALVe's buisness decicions would gradually become more EA inspired until Bethesda, ubisoft and all the other big names would have to begin fighting VALVe

What if Valve bought McDonalds? I find that scenario far more likely...

Possibly a revival of the Mutant League sports games, which I'm okay with because those games were a lot of fun.

Gaben needs those burgers to plop straight from the assembly line, into his mouth.

All the great games that EA publishes will never come out because Valve don't release anything that they can not monetize like all hell.
Yes... all the great games EA publishes... all of them... exactly how would that be any different than what it is now?

I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

OT: I honestly wouldn't want to see that happen. Valve has a reputation from being a little laid back and letting people work on the project they feel like working on. This could turn into several Half-Life 3 scenarios where working on the game is risky and they don't want to take charge of the project or it could simply make them turn into EA because they just become a massive company. I don't see either company taking over the other to be favourable to anyone.

For starters they would start selling Hatty Meals.

If Valve bought EA they would have a whole bunch of shitty franchises watering down their stable of good ones. There would no longer be yearly roster updates that cost the same as a full game. Games would work at launch and half a decade after launch with regular content releases and patches. And I imagine the former executives would be gently swaying in the breeze from their place on the gallows.

Dead Space 3 would sell in-game hats instead of weapon parts, and we'd have to wait five years for games instead of yearly releases.

Honestly, I'd feel that way if anyone took over EA. Except for Microsoft.

Except for Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Activision, Ubisoft, the Mafia, Nigerian 'princes', medieval doctors, mimes, the God of the Torah, the resurrected corpse of Ion Storm Dallas branch, any other businesses Satan has a majority sharehold in, etcetera etcetera."

*Fixed*

Also, has someone taken that ridiculous "This is Sparta" line from that movie about my heritage I never watched and dubbed a really energetic "Fiiiiiiiiixed!!!!!!" over the last word? Because if not, I am sorely disappointed in you, internet.
