What if you could erase one aspect of mankind?

One Baby per family would eventually kill the human race due to the slowly decreasing population.

I believe only having one baby per family would greatly decrease the birth rate of the entire globe, lowering the population by a billion every so often, in order to maintain a steady population, at least 2 children per family would be preferable.

Would one baby per family really decrease the population over time? China has that one-baby-per-family-law (because of overpopulation). And still they keep growing. How can you explain that then?
I suppose if you go from no limit to one max that the population would indeed decrease, but it would also stabilize after a generation. We wouldn't go extinct.

We all know the human race isn't perfect. We got our good sides and our bad sides. But what if you could erase one aspect (thing, part) of mankind, what would you erase?

I believe if you erase too much, you essentially stop being human or at least that what defines us. But if you just change one thing, we would still remain human, no? But be careful; erasing one bad thing, might make (other) things worse.

Erase fear or pain? No, we need those keep ourselves in check.
Erase hunger? Hmm, but that drives us to eat and in turn survive.
Erase disease? Science will do that for us, eventually, I suppose.
Erase anger? Yes, that would make things better. I would erase anger, I think.

What about you? Which one aspect of mankind would you change?

Beat me to it. I'd erase religion. I'd erase it in hops people would stop believing in fairy tales and start believing in themselves and humanity as a whole.

Because we set such a good example for ourselves as is.

I'll be straight with you, I would rather have everyone educated to the fullest, then have people blindingly ignorant to everything, sometimes even their own dogma. While humans can be dicks, I'd rather have someone just tell me that I'm a terrible person then saying that some God thinks I'm a terrible person. Remove the middle man and such.

Myself, I'd remove the bad that religion causes, not the good, because our culture would take a massive hit and would lose orphanages.

I'd remove the idea of an organized religion and just have people find religion themselves. Any time you organize anything you get the same things you see in religion. Whether it be religion, political groups, or even just countries.

besides, there wouldnt be a lot of educating without religion, since it was the religious that kept much of the information during the dark ages when everyone else said to fuck it.

China keeps growing because their culture is fucked up.
Culturally, the son must look after his aging parents, while the wife moves in to live with them.

So what happens to the people who have a daughter as their firstborn? They can't keep it as their one child, as it wont care for them when they are incapable of looking after themselves, instead living with the husband's family.
So they deal with it.

Generally that involves abandoning the daughter at an orphanage, but I don't doubt there are other means to be rid of her.

That's why there's villages almost devoid of girls below a certain age in China.
Because poorly implemented governmental policy conflicts with shitty cultural traditions.

Well that's a horrible idea...a great deal of a people's culture is contained in language, usually in the form of intrinsic phrases e.g. "by the skin of your teeth," etc. which all hearken back to some old story that would otherwise have little or no relevance.

I think I'd erase the ability to lie, personally. Think we'd get a lot more done if we cut the bullshit, and also things that need to end would do so, promptly.

I'm catholic and for once I am actually offended by someone on the escapist about it, thank you for completely being inconsiderate of your fellow man.

You realize that people who belove in something are not all crazy, right? I believe we as man can do many great things, for starters, let's make sure people stop bashing religion for no reason!

In reality, I'd go with our inability to see how everything works out, when we enact something we need to see how it affects everyone beforehand.

On the contrary. I actually do think that those who attempt to try to approach religion with either reason or logic are delusional and are potentially afflicted with some sort of mental disorder. Since religion cannot be discussed in a rational mannner or backed by logical evidence without resorting to "It's my faith" balderdash.

I find it hilarious, that you actually had to point out the Dogma you serve "I'm a Catholic" does that matter? Like being a Catholic is better than being a Jew, Hindu, Buddist, etc. The Bible is horribly flawed, and is as mythical as the rest of the dogma's people embrace.
