What if you could erase one aspect of mankind?

I would delete most, if not all misanthropy!

Greed

a lot of the worlds issues would go away if there was no greed
With no desire to want more than needed, then nothing here would exist. Greed is what made then Europeans want more land, greed is why people try so hard to invent new stuff. Even 'greed' has a good side to it.

As for stuff like starfish regeneration and water bears... Like so...? They can't make complex machinery to give them an edge in areas that their natural body has shortcomings in. While animals as a whole are "superior", one must remember that we are a animal to, a primate that was more focused on high memory storage and passing things down while having hands that allow us to make tools to extend our abilities in what we can do. I do not know of a animal on this planet besides people that can do that. While it may not prove superiority, since bacteria have survived eons more than us and number in the trillions while there is only 6 billion of us I think as a species we are doing quite well.

as much as it would probably fuck up most economies, greed. maybe not all of it, not the will to succeed, but the idea that fuck everyone else i want money that a lot of businessmen seem to get. would probably solve a lot of problems.

so maybe i'll reword, remove the tendency for humans to disregard empathy for personal gain.

i would erase money and the pervert concept that developed around it over the millenia, leading to where we are now: all going broke, big corporations pushing gouvernment bodies to pass insane laws, people killing others over it or sth that has some numeric value, stuff like that.

or maybe erase the sense (& ability to invent the concept again) for property entirely; also see Rousseau, "Discours sur l'origine et les fondements de l'inégalité parmi les hommes" (he already said it all, so no need to repeat it ^^ ), for those who think it sounds (too) red (like Lenin/Marx red); it's not the same as the big bad c-word ;)

Apathy.
Evil succeeds when good men do nothing.

I hate seeing adverts about people dying and me thinking to myself "WHY DON'T I CARE? DAMN IT!"

Do want.
Exactly this. Including the cat ears.

I was thinking if people started caring more about knowledge and always wanted to know more we'd be brilliant. I can't see any downside to this.
Although it's a toss up between eliminating apathy and eliminating discrimination I think.

2 things probably:

1: Religion. Anything that is largely seen as a reason not to ask why is bad. In addition to the animosity it causes. Religion has potential for greatness, sadly its largely wasted in this area.

2: Multiple languages. By default I pick English for 2 reasons, 1, I speak it, 2, most other places do too. The amount the animosity caused and information lost due to the simple problem of communication is astounding.

I would not necessarily get rid of them in that order. It may be that if translations errors were removed religion might not be such a huge white elephant. I doubt it but its a possibility.

The question is:
Would it solve short-term-problems (like diseases,...)
or
Would it solve long-term-problems (like stopping mankind from destroying itself, what will 100% sure happen)

I don't know, as I have no idea how to stop mankind from destroying itself by erasing just one aspect. :'(
Look on the bright side my friend, if we can perfect Fusion as an energy source before we wipe ourselves out then as energy is a primary cause for friction between nations it will largely be removed. Energy becomes practically free.

After that our only main problem is cultural animosity which largely boils down to religion. If we survive another 200 years the prevalence of modern outlooks will start to pervade into all sects of society and like it did in the 17 and 18 hundreds will draw people away from blind faith in religion thus drastically reduce this problem.

All levels of greed that are above "Keep family safe and fed and happy". This way, my government wouldn't be more corrupt than darth vader infected by a trojan computer virus.

the need to build weapons that will never leave their silos instead of focus on what's truly important.

I would erase cruelty. Doing so would have a domino effect that would solve a lot of problems. Without the capacity to be callous towards the suffering of one another, it is likely people would think harder about causing strife, and would actually attempt to make it right if they did so by accident.

Erase economics and the need for money in general, because ALOT of bad things happen, and ALOT of things get suppressed or destroyed because either they didn't have enough money, or had too much.

Alternitively: Religions in general (nothing against religion, but it has also been the cause of many problems)

In the defence of said weapons, war has for most of human history been the primary driving force behind technological advancement. The world we enjoy today is a product of the need for technological superiority over our enemies. Hell even the most advanced robots of our time are fuelled because of the want for field robots.

I agree, but there are without doubt a HUGE amount of problems we face that are neglected to fund the next kind of genocide-o-tron.
But yeah, it is in our nature.

I really doubt that.if you get rid of religion then you would just get rid of a scapegoat and people would just blame other things
