What game would you make? What role would you see yourself doing in your own company? Would you have full creative control and suffer from the "George Lucas syndrome", or hire a group of skilled people who will give you advice on how to realise your dream game?

And furthermore, how far would you get? What type of game could you make with "just" 1 million dollars? What will you make when there are no publishers telling you what to do?

I think My first game will be a small game with a very original idea, think Braid. After that I would be working towards bigger and better things. What would you do?

id buy a big forest and put some concrete buildings in it, buy some hitech laser guns which when you shoot someone it adds up a score etc and they have to go back to a certain point to recharge their laser pack. doing this id have my own real-life FPS

Don't high profile games cost more than 1 million to make these days?

I'd make Oblivion. And mix it with Morrowind.

To bring back all the fun spells from Morrowind.

Id make a bunch of cheap multiplatform games (iphone, Droid, PSN, XBL, Wiishit..) to make that 1 million into multi-millions and then start a real game company.

I would like to see if we could pull off a Western themed MMO and make an alternate earth world based off it with real factions of Mexicans, Indians, Americans, Spainish, French..

Would have trading, hunting, farming, exploration, land control which would lead to PVP with the factions and who controls what land and defends it well enough.

Had a huge talk about this on Vent one latenight years ago with my guild and I think it would really work out.. especially with Red Deads success this year.

I don't trust myself to make a gaming company. I don't know enough at all. I'd give it to Jane McGonigal [http://www.avantgame.com/]. See what brilliant things she could accomplish with that kind of money.

"and used it to start your own gaming company".

OT: I'd make some 8-bit games, and ones where you have quite a lot of freedom to do things/fuck around.

I use it to start making XBLA and PSN and Steam games, lost cost, high quality, great return for your price if you get a hit. Hire exception people with completely different ideas. Creativity is the key. Even if you make a loss on the game, as long as something that creatively pleases myself I would be happy. Money well spent.

I'd love to making a fighting game, 3D and not unlike the Dragon Ball Z fighting games like Raging Blast with an extensive character creator and large open fields with destructible environments. Or hell, just make any game with fully destructible environments. Bored? Go toppled buildings. Tired of just doing mission after mission? Go send a person through a window. I'd also have interior fighting, fast-paced where you can use the destroyed environment as your ally, picking up debris and rubble and throwing it, using it for weapons, or impale people.

But with a million dollars, I doubt I'd be able to make that game. So then I'd just make some kind of RPG with that million, hope it sells enough to make more than what I spent then rinse and repeat.

Sounds like a good plan. I really like creative games. And if one of those creative ideas becomes successful, Big companies like Blizzard can take that idea and make it into a masterpiece.

Hmmm... I think if I had a brilliant idea for a game I'd still need a team to help realise it as I don't know the first thing about how to make a game from scratch, otherwise I'd hire who ever pitched me the best idea.

I think I'd want to create something neo-retro like what BBC has going with the Doctor Who adventure games that would be far cheeper to make that something with HD graphics so you could focus on gameplay, story and being orginal than having to buy a load of duel core processors (or whatever the latest thing is) to render it all.

And I'd probably want to do some sort of adventure game with a good story.

Then if that went well, move onto the next thing.

So... err... where's this million dollars? Is their a government grant or something? (I totally kid).

I'd see you file brankruptcy about three days later...

OT: I'd go indie since you can't make much for the console market for ?1,000,000. Try to get something on Steam, PSN or Li-- NINJA'D!!!
