What if Zynga were to make an installment of your favorite game?

The question pretty much says it all. What features do you think it would have? What components would you like/dislike about it? Would you even play it? Let me know any and all thoughts/opinons you have on the matter.

Bad, bad bad bad idea.

You would need 100+ Friends to learn a Dragonshout.
Your Legendary staff of penetration and your awesome Icebane bastard sword of batshit frozen stupid would look like toys made from Hasbro.
Halfway decent character classes would need to be bought by real money.
You wouldn't allowed to kill anything, because it's not child friendly.
Everyone in that game, even the monsters, would have a truly horrible smileyface.

As someone who has enjoyed Zynga games as a timewaster and hasn't spent any money on them, I'd hate it. Mass Effect has no need to be a Ville.

Are you asking us assuming that Zynga can do the game justice? Because if it's a question of how badly we hate Zynga over how much we love our games, then my hate wins every time. I don't care if Zynga makes a better Elder Scrolls game than Bethesda, I'm not buying it. Not at least until I see 3 or more other titles of similar quality with no shady business practices leading up to them. Then maybe Zynga has shown that they have become a legitimate, respectable developer that I won't feel dirty for supporting.

This. It's one of the... actually, the ONLY company who's games I outright refuse to play on principle, even if they're actually good.

I don't see them as some great evil in the gaming industry, but I hate them far more than EA or Activision.

Well, considering Zynga isn't known for making large and/or substantial games, the "installment" they could possibly make would probably be less of a true installment and more of a cheap spinoff with very loose ties. Say, a Crystal Chronicles game where you spend your time farming and fishing to get money to buy "cool" toys for your pet moogle. I probably would not play such a thing.

The question can be taken any way you or any other Escapist likes. Except as a suppository...

Zynga making a game based of a franchise would be like monopoly adapting itself into a franchise. Pointless, forgettable, and very profitable in the long run.

They wouldn't make nearly enough items, animals, AI routines, personalities and appearances. Might look nicer than the original Dwarf Fortress though.

But they already have, it's called Farmville.....

Okay, I couldn't keep a straight face with that one. I would never buy a Zynga game. Even if it was considered amazing. By giving them money, they would only grow. With their growth, they would crush competitors and destroy video games with their seedy practices.

Anyways, buying crowbar after crowbar for Gordon Freeman would get very expensive. Also, it would be annoying to wait a day to play Ravenholm unless I was willing to fork out some cash.

I'm musing on some of my favorite game series... they are surprisingly hilarious to think about Zynga-fied, actually.

I mean... "Tales of FarmVille?" "Assassin's Creed... Ville?"

Heh. I'd probably give 'em a shot just for the amusement factor. And hey, if they were made by Zynga, they would probably be free-to-play, at least for the first parts. So I wouldn't waste any money if they turned out to be awful.

If Zynga even so much as joked about doing anything involving the .Hack series I would personally travel to their headquarters and murder everyone there. I don't want to spend hours on end clicking pretend cows, why would I want to click pretend Grunties?

Silent Hill Online and Doom-Ville would be novel ideas, but I would do nothing other than smirk at their existence and then completely forget about them.
