4chan is a series of image boards where users can post anonymously.

It's widely 'feared' across the internet because of it not being suitable for work and it's frequent raids of forums, sometimes raids of boards on its own site. There's also the fact that there is child porn posted on the site due to loose moderation and a large amount of posts being made all the time. However, most of that comes from /b/, the random board.

It isn't as bad as everyone says it is as long as you can work your way around them with a certain degree of intelligence. Good place to lurk and get some good wallpapers.

There is little to no moderation on most boards

Even /b/ is moderated. By the way, the "OMG NONE" for rules on /b/ translates to moderation, too.

Yeah for child porn and occasional random ban but compared to the escapist
Other boards I suppose it's hard to get moderated, as long as you remain even remotely within the boards limits you can call each other names and post whatever pictures
