What is a game you were surprised you hated?

Both Gears of War. And Halo both were horrible.

Do you have online? If not then I disagree, if you do then I can understand your opinion. That being said, I'm not going to respect the taste of a man with Agent Gibbs as his avatar.
Saints Row 2 was bad. GTAIV is pretty slow.

i don't understand why so many people were disappointed with gta4.

it lacked the replayability of the average 'sandbox' game, but if you forget about san andreas, it's still a terrific game in it's own right.

It can be a terrific game and still be disappointing. (Not saying I would rate it as high as "terrific.")

imo the number of gta haters are largely players who didn't play the gta games in order. probably starting with vice city/san andreas first.

GTA4 and yes I did play the freaking games in order. I started from GTA2 and the old one was my fav not by a whole lot though.

Fable II. I had heard the first game was great, sat down and started playing it, then realized that 90% of the game was utterly useless fluff.
