What is an acceptable desktop for a man? (Or due to responses, what does a REAL man have?)

I had about 5 themes (desktop changes every half-hour) a while back I'd swap between daily. Until my computer bricked, at least.

(MW2 dektop of about 20 images, TF2 desktop of about 15 images, Spaaaaace with 7 images, Airplanes dear lord AIRPLANES about 15 images, Awesome panoramics of about 40 images)

Now it's basically a crappy li'l Dell logo I need to change. I'm thinking, the best of my favorite games. Some BioShock, MW2, TF2, GTA4, mebbe a little bit of HAWX.

As for why people will make fun of your desktops if they tend to be female, well, it has to do with them being uncomfortable and their coping mechanism is to point out its oddness.

I have the normal windows vista background.
I had a "own made" snooker background but I changed it back.
It's neutral and I pretty much forget after a while what I have when I've seen it so often.

My work desktop is a 2560x1024 shot of Rome from the top of St. Peter's Basilica.

My home desktop is the Best of Bing theme. The internet can take some really amazing photos.

I used to care what people thought about what I had, but i really don't anymore. The way i see it is, its my computer, I'll customize it however i want. Personally, I enjoy having something really pretty to look at on my desktop. I don't feel the need to put up some badass pic of (for example) Sandal the Enchanter (Enchantment? ENCHANTMENT! <3) with his bristling muscles and magical prowess tearing up 5000 darkspawn before calmly selling me his services.

Sometimes its a band logo, sometimes its a fantasy landscape, sometimes its a girl. It matters not. This is one I had a few months ago (although a much bigger version of course). I have since switched to the pic of hayley williams below it.

Mmmmmmm Emma Watson.......

Personally I would have a picture of Ms Watson over Megan Fox any day!
I completely agree. Perfect!

Anyway, I personally have just the default windows background because I can't be bothered to choose which one. Sometimes I have game related-ones though.

You know, in the end I think you can't win no matter what you do. If you pick an image that pleases your family then you won't probably like it. So just wallpaperize your desktop with whatever you want and act proud in front of everyone. Sooner or later they'll have to stop bugging you when they notice that their teasing has no affect on you.

It's kind of like wearing clothes, isn't it? You can't please everyone, so just pick with whatever you think is best. I'd say go with eyecandy if that's what you want. After all, you'll be the one using the computer, right?

I used to have a background of this massive cat sitting next to a lighthouse, both of them towering over a small ocean-side town.
Mind sharing a link? Lighthouse + giant cat sounds like a nice change to my current boring desktop.

Here you go.

I currently have 177 wallpapers that are cycled through once per minute. Only one of them is a "sexy" picture:

The rest are mostly interesting photographs, simple cartoons, cool-looking artwork, and one or two joke desktops.

I only draw the line at "no porn". Pretty much everything else goes for me. I don't care how manly my background is I mostly just use ones that I've made.

I don't really care what people think of it.

I have a Screenshot of RA2 for my desktop.

All the glory of war but instead of muscles, big, impending zepplins.

That's what real men have.

My current one is just the words "Don't Panic" in large, friendly letters.

Oh, we're sinking like stones,

All that we fought for,

All those places we've gone,

All of us are done for.
