What is Anonymous?

I know this seems like an ambiguous question, but what are the internet police of anonymous? Are they just 4chan's /b board? Is it 4chan in general? Is it anyone who is online? Are 'we' (escapists) anonymous? What is this group?

Secondly: How the hell do they gather? I assume it's just 4chan's /b board, but how are they able to get so many people to do things without anyone knowing who anyone else is?

Yes, this is because of the Gene Simmons thread. I just keep being surprised at how organized anonymous is. They're somehow combining chaos and structure to the point where I'm just baffled... Thoughts?

from what i know they are basically a bunch of people on the internet that will go around massing with things and organising events for what they call "lulz". they hack peoples myspaces and facebooks etc. if they find something they dont like they will do something to stop it or change it to the way they like it, be it by hacking the site or organising raids on the site, for instance i belive they are after scientologists because they hate them and disagree with their views.

P.S. if you read this and are a part of anonymous i mean no disrespect, just helping this guy out....... im scared now

From what I understand, Anonymous really isn't that organized now. Things like the whole Gene Simmons thing are exceptions rather than the rule, as it runs against what most of Anonymous believes.

Also, I think Anon is comprised mostly of /a/v/b/ from 4chan, as well as users from the Something Awful boards and ebaumsworld.

The internet police are a joke, it is made up for police who serve justice to people who are on the internet.

Anonymous is just a collection of people who band together to do whatever they want without a name or face to themselves.

They band together to do things they find interesting, so Gene Simmons pissed off a lot of people right? So they find it interesting and funny to attack and troll him, they're guided through boredom.

Anonymous is anyone who stays anonymous on boards like 4chan (more) they all share the same username "Anonymous". But your asking a question that cant be directly answered, no one knows who Anonymous is (are). All we know is that they do not forgive, they do not forget, they are legion.

From what little I know, they're bad news. They're based in the /b/ section of 4chan, an imageboard website. Their occupation is trolling people, on the Internet and in real life when possible. The symbols most commonly associated with them are the Guy Fawkes mask from V for Vendetta and a simple picture of a suited person with no body.

C'mon, dude, you really have no need to ask us something when searching for the vague term "anonymous" will bring the answer you seek with the very first result.
