Gaming.

No seriously, I am trying to played four games at the moment to the point that I will finall post back this form of my tomorrow when I actually recieved it a week ago!

While Gundam making and paint may count in the past but I rarely do that these days due to the rising cost of the models and lack of time to build and paint them. Granted I did get a few when my parent went on holiday in China but the recent one I got is pretty much gathering up in dust (I got it months ago) and it doesn't help the fact that I don't like the model itself (my mum randomly picked one).

I'm neck-deep in Homestuck currently. Other than that I guess I spend a bit too much time on ponychat, and just messing around... Can't call it hobbies though!

I used to be obsessed with birds, and I don't mean the kind you would expect a teenager to be obsessed with. I was an expert on finches and crows by the time I was 18 - I could even tell them apart by their song (although, granted, here in Ireland we don't get as many species as other countries as Europe would get).

I still like like looking at birds idly while I'm killing time, trying to identify them and their gender etc. but I'm not half the bird nerd I used to be.

The only thing I would obsess over these days is Mathematics (God, I have boring interests). I'm not too sure if that counts though because it's currently my livelihood, and not just a hobby.

Sword fighting!

Not fencing mind you, I mean two-handed sword fencing. I can't get enough of the historical martial arts scene and really wish more people did it in our city. Hopefully us doing displays and whatnot will attract more people to our little club

I suppose the only hobby I have that one may think I spend an abnormal amount of time obsessing over is military history.

swords.

Ever since i was a wee lad i've had a strange obsession with sharp metal things, at first it was just "knights and samurai and musketeers are cool! they all use swords! swords are cool!" then it turned into collecting, then i did my senior research paper on the evolution of swords over time, and i was forced to cut out more than half of what i wrote due to the presentation time i was allowed. then i started learning to sword fight, first with cut down broom sticks and my friends messing around, then an Aikiken class, then a Fiore class, and recently i've been looking into forging techniques and pondering if i could put a forge into my backyard. not to mention how many hours a week i spend on reading about swords and the cultures they come from.

in short. I like swords. (sword-chucks yo!)
You would love my grandfather, he passed his entire 60 piece Sword/Knife/Dagger collection to us, a few of which are displayed around my room. It has everything from broad swords, rapiers, katanas, fencing foils, some modern military blades, short swords and daggers etc. I probably inherited his love of swords as I've bought a few for myself like my Master Sword replicas.

OT: At this point my in-game Reshiram collection in Pokemon. I have over 350 of them strewn about five generation 5 carts. I just get them off of the GTS by submitting Gibles. I have to have the biggest legit collection of them by now, something which I assume could be worthy of putting on my tombstone.

Anime and manga. http://myanimelist.net/animelist/tsuki15

Sometimes I sit back and think, what if instead of watching anime I had a real hobby and did something productive how much I could have accomplished. Then I remember that takes far more effort and is far less rewarding and go back to doing what I love.

Making back-stories, personalities and universes for fictional characters to play in.

Yeah...it's just a "hobby".
It's a hobby for me because I fail to write anything down or get any real use out of it. I also play guitar, but that's just a hobby. Eric Clapton wouldn't say his guitar playing is a hobby.

Didn't mean to say that writing was just a hobby.
Oh no, sorry sorry, that wasn't what I was saying.
I wasn't trying to be spiteful or anything at you insinuating writing to be 'just a hobby', but more that my obsessive and ridiculous levels of care I put into things that don't exist would probably alarm some people.

You know those people who have blogs detailing the adventures of their Elder Scrolls characters as if they were real people?

I'm pretty close to that.
I thought I offended you because you were a writer.

That sounds pretty similar to what I do on occasion. For every character I see in a movie (that interests me), I imagine their entire lives. I come up with backstories and futures. Birth to death. It does have to be a good movie, though.
