I've heard a good deal of talk about how video games should be considered and art form and when I found that game design and computer animation wasn't in the arts section at a college I was considering but rather in the computer science section it got me thinking, what does art actually mean?

Creativity being expressed through pretty much any media. Whether it is paint, film, or interactive entertainment, if it took any amount of creativity to create, it can be considered art.

So you could walk down the street and see a penis spraypainted onto a wall and think "eew", where somebody else would see it and think "art". Honestly, it just depends on the viewer's opinion.

Art is anything you want it to be. If you declare something art, then it is. There is no way to disprove or to prove art, so all opinions must be held in equal measure.

Any attempts to categorize it are only there for the sake of organizing pieces with similar technical aspects.
