I thought about this as soon as I saw the title but Star Wars still delivers a lot of good stuff in terms of books and comics so it isn't as far gone as Sonic is.EternalNothingness said:Sonic the Hedgehog.
It's so mainstream, that Sega abused that mainstream status that made-up Sonic to make money, all the way to the point of killing their own trademark character and his reputation!
This this and a million times this.kman123 said:Final Fantasy? It used to be revered and respected...nowadays it's a bit of a joke, isn't it?
EXACTLY like Star Wars, ha!
...I wouldn't say Sonic's problem was being kiddified. Its problem is that the creators take the world too seriously, and put the characters in situations where they really don't belong.illas said:The Sonic games - they started out as average (though fairly unique) but sold out and kiddie-ified when they should have just stopped.
They keep getting pointless remakes, too...
I was actually going to say 'Final Fantasy' myself so yeah... you have spoken for me.kman123 said:Final Fantasy? It used to be revered and respected...nowadays it's a bit of a joke, isn't it?

I get a cookie! Don't really want the Coke though, I'm not really much of a soda guy. Gunstar Heroes is my favorite Genesis game! I have Gunstar Super Heroes as well, I bought it brand new when it came out. I hope Treasure makes another one.martintox said:Gunstar Heroes.
(I'm giving a Coke and a cookie to whoever knows this game)
You mentioned consoles and then World of Warcraft? *blinks* Indie? Nope. Casual? Nope...hrrmmmpoiumty said:From my perspective, it hasn't been done yet. Star Wars has changed the minds of many that formerly considered sci-fi either child's play or not worth their time. It was a giant milestone for movies. To equalize it, we need a game that can connect the hardcore and the casual, the indie and the mainstream, the pc and the console audiences into one, and even invite people that would have never otherwise considered gaming as a form of entertainment. As a console title that has merely brought a lot of popularity, Halo hasn't done that. WoW has come close, though. But it needs more depth.
