I dunno, something along the lines of a ripped guy duel-wielding machine guns puts one foot on an overturned car while his wavy hair cascades behind him in the non-existent wind, shouting into the sky as explosions occur behind him.

I guess I confuse the term "hardcore" with "typical-sounding badass", though I don't use the word "hardcore" unless I'm making fun of something. "Daaamn that was so hardcore -snrk-"

Otherwise I think it's a pretentious title people give themselves to sound important or badass.

Hardcore is someone who gives the right video games roughly the same amount of their attention as I do.

Provided they aren't one of them feminisps, women, or old people.

To me, a "hardcore" game, if you wish to call it thus, is one that requires patience and effort in order to succeed with it. It requires you to learn how it works, and then respect how it works. There is little to no hand holding involved, and it lets you figure it out for yourself. That's the theory, anyway. I don't put much emphasis into it, I just like to get lost in a game and to feel accomplished at the end of it. It's hard to feel rewarded in a game that holds your hand all the time, or always tells you where you have to go.

To me, a hardcore gamer is one who can understand and deconstruct mechanics and elements of a video game and use them to their advantage, as well as take the time to master extremely difficult games.

I dont think hardcore has the appropriate connotations but there definitely is a difference between those who love games and those who just consume games.

Just because you eat food doesnt make you a gourmet even if you enjoy certain foods a lot it takes a bit more love for food and drink as a whole and if your not careful it can make you an insufferable jackass then again any person can become that regardless.

The Hardcore label itself is just to caught up in to many possible connotations like having a massive amount of skill in a game or playing for a ridiculous amount of hours. Maybe we should make some new labels no more casuals or hardcore nonsense we need something different that accurately represents where you stand so now the new labels are knifeEx20 and forkNQ9 hopefully that makes a lot more sense to people.

Society seems overly concerned with labels, I mean they are just words. This person wants to be apart of the Hardcore gamer club, but doesn't want to be associated with people he doesn't like. This is an especially annoying desire, I mean do we really need to romanticize certain words? I've decided to define all of these terms for everyone, which is admittedly point, but whatever.

Gamer: A person who plays video games.
Casual gamer: A person who only occasionally plays video games, not desiring to devote a great amount of time or energy to gaming.
Hardcore gamer: A person who spends a considerable amount of time and often money to pursue gaming as a hobby.
