I was playing Just Cause 2 today and thought to myself.. "I really do prefer games with great graphics such as these." So my question to you today is.. What is important to you in a game? Other things I notice people point out are voice acting, realism, easy and/or challenging gameplay..

Edit: Try to choose something less noticable or something that doesn't bother other people.. Voice acting is a good example of this.

As long as a game is fun and long lasting, that's all that really matters. For example: 1 VS 15 on Haze. By no means a great game, but it's easily the best £5 I've ever spent.

Gameplay followed by story, although sometimes the story/ theme is good enough to let issues with gamepley slide (I won't name the game but if you've ever had to go through 4 menus to optimise for battle you've played it as well).

Gameplay is all, I really don't mind about graphics if I'm honest, as long as I can see what's supposed to be going on.

A good story in combination with good gameplay. Graphics aren't that important to me. It's nice if it looks good and such, but if it looks good and plays crap, I won't play it.

Fun. If a games not fun I'l stop playing it. Other than that I think it would be open worlds and character customisation.

Immersion and attention to detail sells it to me. That's why I can play 12 hours in a single day of Fallout 3, 2 years after it was released, and after I've done pretty much everything several times, while still discovering new stuff and meeting new characters. Yet, anything over 30 minutes in gta4 pisses me off.

Controls.. if a game has bad controls I dont want to play it, Killzone 2 for me was lost within the first hour or so because I just hated the controls to the point where the game was annoying to play.

Gameplay and Immersion follow pretty close behind, the best games for me are the ones where I forget that the real world is still turning while im playing, because im completly immersed, and the game plays perfectly (something along the line of TES:Oblivion and Bioshock spring to mind).

Story and Graphics are also important for particular genres for me, Graphics i find are important for Immersive RPGs and a Horror games (specifically lighting), Story is important to some games, but not an absolute must for every game to be fun. Borderlands 'story' (if you could really call it that) is terrible, but the games a blast to play, and one im ashamed to admit how much time ive spent playing it.

A sense of place. Feeling that the world is bigger than what you can immediately access, that it goes on without you.

The story/voice acting. Adds emotion to the game which makes it a lost more immersive. Followed by gameplay. Followed by graphics. Followed by online (which I don't give a crap about)
