So why did you start this thread? You've already decided you didn't like it and you got rid of it, so nothing we say will change your mind.

It offers hours and hours of immersive gameplay. There is plenty of stuff to find and more to kill, VATS is pretty cool and the game is just generally awesome. You should have given it more of a chance

That would be Liam Neeson.
ah ok, but still 2 hours just to start a game?? seriously??
If it takes you two hours to do what should be done in 45 mins TOPS, then you're doing it wrong.
Damn, that was what I was gonna say!

Because it's a good game. It really is. It's immersive, the introduction to the world is genius, and the pacing is perfect (if you play it right). That said, it's not "My First Bethesda Game(tm)", and you have to have played another Bethesda game to really work out what's going on in it.

Still, it's pretty much the best game of 2008, that's why people like it.

And who doesn't love Liam Neeson?
even in the phantom menace...

But the main appeal to me was one day, I was thinking: wouldn't a FPS RPG, like oblivion, with the same exploration and immersion, be better in a modern/post modern setting, with weapons to match? and barely half a year later, fallout 3 came out of the blue and answered my call. I still play it on an infrequent basis, after playing it to death for 2 months.

You know what else people like? Punctuation.

Edit: For the OP, seeing as we just got rid of gadrgthy, and the OP reminded me of his style...

1) Took me about 30 minutes.
2) If you only played it to that point, your opinion isn't worth listening to, because you haven't got to the GAME part. The magic of F3 is the hundreds of hours content to be discovered across it's enormous game world.

yeah whats a story really? T.T its a game that is heavy on storytelling and lore its a good game keep going try other things until you see what you like the best. and you can skip the vault everytime btw alls you have to do is make a save at the end door and before you exit you can change EVERYTHING.

The real game starts outside of the vault. You did at least reach Megaton right?
You know, your avatar has the exact face I pulled when I read "Looking for Pierce Brosnan"!

People talk about it, because people like it. Same reason they talk about any other game.
And seriously, 2 hours? I mean c'mon, nothing you could do in vault could possibly take 2 hours. No matter what.

essentially i dont like it. i got it and after playing it for about 2 hours i had grown to puberty, and run out of a big hole in a mountain looking for pierce brosnan.

why does everyone seem to like it??
I reccommend you don't buy any more games in the RPG genre.

Complaining that the intro to F3 is too long is like complaining that Queen had 4 part harmonies, or that a dog licks its balls.

I don't quite understand where the OP is coming from, since he doesn't seem to grasp that the Vault is only the starting point to a very entertaining game. With that said, I did find the intro dreadfully boring, and saved just before exiting the Vault so I wouldn't have to repeat it. And Mass Effect is better than Fallout 3? Well, it made my computer BSOD every time I tried to run it, so I can't agree with you there.

its the fact that they made the gr8est game "oblivion" then put guns into it, its like stephen hawking and rambo having a child, it has the best aspects of both worlds

That is where the RPG part of an FPSRPG comes in... Like a lot of people, if you go in expecting it to be some standard FPS game, you will probably not like it and/or get bored... Personally, I like FPSRPGs more then FPSs... they take longer then 6 hours to beat...

Damn 2 hours to get through the vault, did you get lost something? Anyway the game is slow to start but the story gets really good and it's alot of fun exploring the wasteland.

I agree op, but unlike you apparently i completed the game and still dislike it. Ive been asking this question on the escapist for a while. You wont get an answer because they all love it. No offense, they will just say your taste isnt for the game, or something to that effect
