To quote people above me its just a good show. good writing, good characaters, good animations, good world and it just manages to suck you in and you forget your supposed to keep your love of my little pony secret from your drinking buddies. I even came into it with a completley negative im going to hate this attitude and it still got to me. Now im an avid bronie and im spreading the good cheer.
The new my little pony is catching on because it's cute enough for the kids but the humor leans to the more random like invader zim and its so well drawn that its pulling in older audiences. Do you remeber how popular GIR was in invader zim? Well this is similar except its the whole show thats cute and funny.
I find all Valve titles overrated.It's like mainstream indie games.Most of their stuff made a revolution in gaming but Half-Life and Counter-Strike to me were always those overrated multiplayers everyone played.I remember the 90s when I really wanted to multiplayer CnC games but had to convince my friends for 2 days before we go and do a mp match.Then the game drags on,time ends in the net-cafe and we're raging that we could've played a few CS matches in that time...That's all there was to it.Lt. Its the ULTIMATE troll. A bunch of people (4chan probably) decided to make this some sorta "internet cult". They post something that is clearly unfunny and childish, in hopes people will go on the forums and start flaming.
Some guy posts, "ZOMG! 1itt1e p0nieez r deh bestorz!" someone else goes on and says, "Why do you like little retarded kids shows? Are you stupid?" then they get banned or something.
At least that's what it seems to be. I can't for the life of me understand why some kinda little kid, teletubby like show would be popular otherwise.

It's a cartoon that is aimed at both kids AND their parents (i.e. adults), which is smartly written, funny and well animated. It's not that much of a surprise that it might appeal to anyone with a fondness for cartoons.
The fact that it's also a My Little Pony cartoon which appeals to 18-30 year old males (look at the viewer data on any episode on youtube) has turned it into a colossal in-joke.
