(I'm looking at you,Platinum Version, with your barely any differentness from D/P)
Now if you said Emerald against R/S, that would be arguable. As it stands, this is just plain wrong.

it's a fond memory I haven't revisited since the Red and Green(I think) on game-boy color. I never even owned a or a game-boy color but my friend did and I played the hell out of it.

Pokemon was my first video game, well non educational video game ever. But besides the nostalgia, I just like it because it appeals to someone who likes fantasy and role playing. Pokemon was a precursor to my interest in all of those things. It's not a big part of me anymore, as I've grown to be a much more complex of a human being, but you can't leave something that used to be such a big part of your life permanently. I think a small part of it will always stays with me.

I was gifted FireRed when I was about 7 years old, I can truly say that from then on I have been gaming ever since. If the time spent could have been used on something more worthwhile is another matter.
At the moment i am quite happy to play my Halo:Reach but I will always remember the day a small child went downstairs to see a new Gameboy SP and Pokemon sitting by the fireplace...

To me, its the thought of adventuring and good old fashion fun. The thought that you're ten once again, that the world is new and their's so much to be discovered in it.

Basically that warm fuzzy feeling of my childhood.

Pokemon red was one of the first games I played, and I sunk an enormous amount of time into it. So, to me, playing a pokemon game reminds me of when I was little and provides a link back to my earliest gaming experiences.
How do you view pokemon?

To me it was the last of he top-down rpg greats. It still sits in my blue gameboy colour,in its monochrome pokemon red glory. I actually stared my game up again after the R.I.P. Flareon post to discover myself t The point of getting evee. I will now finish the game with flareon and my nidoking. Pokemon is to me a great RPG with much potential and rides the line between youth and growth that much escapism is all about. Plus, you know, You all wish your dog could breath fire. (Hey, my computer's spellchecker has Pokemon in it)

Basically, everything wrong with today's games according to Extra Credits (Skinner box, choice-descision, etc.) wrapped in a very cheery colorful package that efficiently distracts me from life for far, far longer than it should or deserves.
Quite the contrary, I don't feel that extra credits doesnt like pokemon's features. The calculations are never masked as choices, and said calculations are deep and rewarding. Also the player is forced into choosing between thier favorite pokemon and the most effective battlers.
And, as for skinner box, you never need to grind for levels at all to beat most pokemon games. However, people who actually want to "catch em all" are indeed going to be spending a lot of time wanding through caves.

It was the first game series I ever discovered on my own, so for that it holds a special place in my heart. It's basically my childhood, so I'll always keep buying them, as I did when Black and White came out and I got it on release date, and while I admit some of the newer Mons look a bit dodgy, and that Game Freak have made the series a cash cow franchise by now, it'll still be timeless to me.

I hate nintendo and everything nintendo related. Don't ask.

On that note, I had Pokemon Blue, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red...
and I bought a DS lite just for Pokemon. Sunk masses of time into Soul Silver, and have already notched 25 hours on Pokemon White.

It was my first real game, I think.
It means a great deal to me.

And someone suggest me a name for the next Pokemon I catch pls:].

2nd Gen > 1st Gen > 4th Gen > 5th Gen > 3rd Gen

Everything > 3rd Gen.

Handheld Games >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Console Games

And that in summary is where I stand on the subject.

I remember seeing N64 Pokemon adverts as i walked around town as a nipper, with a big blastoise on the front. That's what Pokemon means to me: an unerasable memory.

Never cared for the cards, never cared for the games...

Pokemon is... watching the very first episode of the anime with my best friend at the time and enjoying it immensely.

Pokemon is spending hours upon hours of my life in the damnable ingame casinos trying to get enough coins to buy a Porygon, but such a feeling of worth when I finally get one. Not to mention the hours and hours of repeatedly picking up rare candies from that glitched spot in Cerulean City on the first gen of games...

Pokemon (the TCG) is a time when I went out for the day with my friend and learned how to play. Since which I have lost interest in the TCG, though it put me on the path to playing other TCGs (YuGiOh! in particular, of which I have made quite a few friends by playing it).

Pokemon is the game I can immerse myself in no matter what few friends I had as a kid and when my parents were fighting so I could get away from it all.

Pokemon was and is everything from my childhood, the good and bad memories. I cannot say I've made any friends because of it, but it's helped me build up my common interests with my friends, bringing me closer to them. To an extent, it still does. With the newest ones, I don't doubt that it'll bring me closer to the friends I have nowadays.
I've been playing the games since they were first released and I still play them today, over 12 and nearing 13 years later. Seems all too much from a simple series of games and toys...

Pokemon Gold was the first game I ever played, and I still play it and it's children to this day, (and at this very moment actually)... Pokemon to me is a game that I can put hundreds of hours into and still play it more...

It makes me proud to say "I'm 16 and I play Pokemon more than people half my age!!!"...
