If I can get enough requests I'll start a poll thread and start doing user selected watchthroughs/updates. This is actually rather fun.
Well count me in, its always funny when people who are new to anime watch it for the first time XD

Deal with it.
you're saying you're a liar and crook, intelectually, morally and ethically bankrupt.

Like I said troll and pretentious with it.

You remind me of a guy I knew when I was about your age but he was studying philosophy and was actually quite nice to his partner afaik.
Philosophy is for pussies so actually he's not like me at all.

Cowboy Bebop Update Whatever:

So just Spike ambushed the Outlaw Guy wearing a poncho and sombraro for no reason than the show writers felt the need to go "HEY YOU GUYS WE JUST LOVE SERGIO LEONE COWBOY MOVIES AND NOIR MOVIES TOO GET IT THATS WHY ITS CALLED COWBOY BEBOP!" But then Kung Fu happens and its all "BUT WE ALSO LIKE RETURN OF THE DRAGON! ARN'T WE UNIQUE LITTLE SNOWFLAKES!?"

Alright Cowboy Bebop so do I but you don't me hollering it from my goddamn roof.
...You really are trying your hardest to discredit it aren't you?
I actually really like this a bunch. I'm probably going to watch more of it.

It's just funny how hard it trying to appeal to the Film Nerd crowd.

Cowboy Bebop shouldn't even be called Cowboy Bebop. It should be called "This is Anime for People who have 35mm Prints of Underloved Movies from the 70's In Their Basements. Also I Got Beat The Fuck Up in Highschool: The Series."
Actually, over the course of the series (and several of the early episodes) certain bits of information come out that makes the title make more sense. Some are very subtle, but once you see them you can't not see them. In particular, as you notice the multiple meanings of both "cowboy" and "bebop" when used in context...

Yeah, I know... but like gestalt concept, clever wordplay is way more interesting than cynicism. (heh, cine-cism)

What I DON'T like about anime is that it's either a romantic drama or it's a violent one that suffers from what I call "Dragonball syndrome." Remember how intense the fights were in early Dragonball, anyone? The Goku-Raditz (sorry if I misspelled that) fight was way more enjoyable than watching Frieza and... SOMEONE float above an exploding planet and talk about how the planet was exploding in between yelling at each other and looking surprised at the other's power level.
No. I don't. Because I have NEVER SEEN WHATEVER THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT INCOHERENTLY.
Okay. Just... the fight scenes are way better near the beginning of the series. That's all I meant.

And I fucking dare some otaku ************ to quote me and "prove me wrong" by hocking up their favorite love-drama/mech-fest loogie onto my face.

Well, not to stick my foot in my mouth, but I think it has something to do with...well, that it's recently getting into the western eye. Now when I say recently, I mean in the last few years and while it HAS been floating about for longer, the attention just hasn't always been on it. It's become something popular and SOME of it is good, though I have a bit of a low opinion of some of it.

Anime and Manga have their good points, but my main gripe is that they have a habit of going a little overbroad at times. That's just me, I know people who love...so maybe it's just down to personal taste.

For the record I understand why it's called Cowboy Bebop, and I rather like the merger of pulpy 70's action with earlier noir and jazz elements. They go together really well and as much shit as I give the show for its overt references, the show handles its actual stylistic conventions quite well.

DO YOU HEAR ME WEAWHATEVERS!? COWBOY BEBOP IS A POINT IN YOUR FAVOR!

I'm going to take a break for a bit. I need to some Wild Turkey if I'm going to appreciate any more anime. Check back in a little bit for Deathnote.

I vote for your girlfriend's friends need a swift boot to the ass.

Sort of wish I'd seen Niagro's post earlier because he pretty much said everything I wanted to, only better. It's not to be taken seriously, but it can be fun if you don't have to deal with the idiot fans that hold it up as their holy grail. I fucking hate those people.

This made me laugh in a good way.

I'll do it because I'm curious what you're going to do about it though...

Full Metal Panic...actually got pretty ridiculous.
Gundam 00 was...well, let's just pass over this one.
Macross Frontier...may come close to fitting the bill.
Asura Cryin...made me angry. Very angry.
Code Geass...I don't even know man.

So yeah, I guess you're more or less correct. Doesn't stop me from loving them though. Except for Asura Cryin. Dear God, Asura Cryin.

And yeah, start another thread. I'll even go along with it and try to steer you away from the ones that'll cause you to off yourself.

It's as good as any other TV stuff, but some people just like how the characters look quite alot and so a market began. I guess one reason would be that you can do a lot more in Anime than you can in real life.

But why, WHY did you go to an Anime fanclub? The diehard fanbase of any medium of entertainment are always annoying and confusing. Anime fans are not exception, with the absolute most diehard ones called "Weeaboos" who damn their every existence of not being in Japan, hate it whenever an Anime gets dubbed into English and lives in some cocaine infused world where in Japan, everything is made out of sunshine and rainbows and all their favourite Anime characters will walk the streets and be their friend.

What I'm trying to say is this. It's about as good as TV. People love it, people hate it. Although I don't even count Anime as a genre or something (More of an Animation style, if even that) I will happily say that it is still something fun to see.

So, yeah, you're going about it the wrong way. Don't attend meetings. Just find one that everyone agrees is good and watch it. No clubs, no "Kawaii Desu" crap. Just you, a snack, and the video.

Calumon: Uhh... You could watch mine, I guess.

Well that is the problem right there. You probably watched some of the worst animes ever made. You should watch something that is actually considered good. Just because something is popular does not make it good.

Ok, not a favourite but the first that comes to mind and it is popular, where does Death Note fall in your two category system? Sure its violent at times but violence is not a focus of the show at all and ii is certainly not a romantic drama. Saying all anime is either romcom or battles is as ignorant as saying all U.S shows are sitcoms or gritty dramas.
