From the Urban dictionary:

Swag
apperance ,style ,or the way he or she presents them selves.

He got a killa swag

If you want a more proper meaning, look at MASTACHIEFPWN's post:

Swag is essentially just how badass or cool something is. This can range from how funny something is to how awesome your kill was ETC.

For example this video proves what sawag is.

[small] Sawag is just my way of saying swag. [/small]

To me it means useless shit, promotional materials handed out at conventions or conferences. Usually manifests as carry bags you'd look like a tool using, buttons you're going throw away the nanosecond you get home and t-shirts that you're only going to wear when painting your house or mud wrestling. Sometimes you get pens though, I'll use the pens because I never seem to have one the few times I have to jot something down. I've never heard of it used any other way, unless it's a dialectical thing or it became an internet colloquialism while I wasn't looking.

It doesn't matter, you should never have to use the word "swag" anyway. Here are some alternatives:

Here you go, straight from urban dictionary.

Swag:
The way in which you carry yourself. Swag is made up of your overall confidence, style, and demeanor. Swag can also be expanded to be the reputation of your overall swagger. You gain swag, or "Swag up", by performing swag worthy actions that improve this perception. A person can also "swag down," by being an overall pussy and garnering negative swag for their actions. Swag is a subtle thing that many strive to gain but few actually attain. It is reserved for the most swagalicious of people. Swag can also be quantified, with point systems existing in some circles of friends.

This is basically what it means, this is the most common use of it anyway, others may mean something else when they use it but they are misrepresenting it. Swag really isn't something that should be overt or talked about and the type of people who constantly yell swag or talk about all their swag, usually have no swag. I can take the word or leave it, I don't love it or hate it and I usually only use it ironically or if someone has done something truly amazing as to make them worthy of this ridiculously played-up word.

It's basically good loot. In the real world, yeah, it's mostly used by hipsters from what I've seen.

Due to all the youtube dumping on this thread I thought it wouldn't hurt to add a bit relevance:

Swag is basically accomplishing difficult things while making it look really easy.

Passing a uber hard test without studying? SWAG.

Winning a fight with little energy used? SWAG.

Getting a girls number within 30 seconds? SWAG.

Dunno, let me ask Swagneto...

I think it's basically being very charismatic with little effort.
Magneto's got swag, man. He makes this good girl wanna go bad. So bad...

... I mean, yeah. Magneto is cool. I wish that outfit made it into UMvC3. Totally a good example. Heh, Swagneto, so punny. *ahem*

OT: I think it's short for swagger, but has evolved into a word for how cool someone is. Someone who has swag is someone who presents him/herself as being so cool.

Swag has several meanings.

Primarily swag meant loot or treasure that you aquired without payment or exchange. Usually items rather than hard currency that nevertheless held significant value. For instance pirates are often characterised as reffering to their ill-gotten-gains as swag. These days the word is often used to describe items given away during promotions or as free gifts.

In addition it is sometimes incorrectly used to describe a cocky or self assured attitude, usually but not exclusivley on the part of a young person.
