Eh, I don't like parties and such. Too many people I don't know, it's loud, impossible to talk to my friends and a lot of the people at the party go there just to get hammered, meaning that those of us who aren't will have to be the reliable ones and help them if anything happens. I just can't handle it! Oh, and there's also social anxiety... [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_anxiety]

A small one with just a few close friends is fun though. So I'd say the appeal would be my friends.

Ugh. A room full of people I don't know, all getting drunk and yelling and close and likely physical contact? No thank you. Besides, I have a Katana/Regen to level up- I've never gone Scrapper before, so I have to figure out which build works best.

I like the chance to meet more people. I have had one group of friends for a while, so it's nice to meet new people.

Oh and it gives me a chance to "dance". I love dancing ridiculously, it's my favorite thing ever :D
We can dance if want to, we leave your friends behind, coz your friends don't dance and if they don't dance then they aint no friends of mine!

Pretty much my reason too, why would people not like parties? Get out the house meet new people, make new friends, have a laugh listen to music with others, have somedrinks, get into antics (one time my friend got locked in the toilet so we had to break down the door to open it).

Testify! The secret is finding the quietest room in the house and setting up kip there, ya know?

an social event where the noise level makes it possible to converse someone without shouting. Do like music though^^ Oh, and it's actually MORE fun if people aren't to drunk to stand straight.

Parties are an extrovert's paradise. Too bad I'm introverted to the point of almost complete withdrawal into myself---parties are torture to me even when I know most of the people there. I find myself suffering from mental exhaustion within the first hour.

I don't do the whole party thing much. My social circle where parties are concerned are usually quite small.

Actually having social interactions with other people for once in my damned life. The alcohol is nice, too; i'm usually far too shy without it.

To have a laugh with mates and get pissed.

If you think it's overrated then you're not drinking enough.

People feel like they're having fun when with a lot of other people, whether or not they really are.

Parties are god for free food though :D

I don't party for a couple of reasons. a) I don't drink. And b) If I'm invited to a party, it's usually because someone wants me to be the designated driver. Now I'm fine with people drinking in a social context, but being in a place where people drink to get drunk is not my scene. I went through four years of college, I've had plenty of experience with drunk people :/

That said, I much prefer hanging out with a few friends and doing something like watching a movie, playing videogames, watching tv, whatever.

"Wow, that's so cool the way you have no social life and like to think you're better than people for not drinking alcohol or having different music tastes or trying to have fun with others."

General attitude in this thread, people should get over themselves. If I was just hanging out with a few of my friends not drinking what would we probably do? We spend all day hanging out anyway and most of our time playing videogames, to do just that at a party would be fucking boring.

Adding more people, some new to mix and some alcohol and things become more exciting, being drunk gives you a sense of euphoria, it can strip away almost any social inhabitions you have, it will instant give you a common interest with all other drunk people there and can be the founding of a life long friendship. Being drunk makes boring tasks more fun, it's an excuse to act silly and lark around, and then there's dancing at parties and boy do I love to dance. And if you hate the music that much then you can change it can't you, it's ussually just an iPod plugged into a speaker.

OT: i hate parties because

*i hate noise
*i hate dancing (just doing it not the action itself)
* and i would prefer to be on xbox then in a crowd of people that are drunk (or on sugar highs depend's what age)

being drunk may give you a sense of euphoria but people who are drunk often smell, vomit, start fights, do stupid things (push people into fires or something equeally dumb), or faint. you ruin party's for people that can have fun and make friends without Alcohol when they just hang out with friends.

Well how big is a "group" in this case? I'd see many parties as just being way too crowded and loud to get proper talk on with my friends. I like smaller ones, but then I could just call that "hanging out."
If you've got more than 3 people at someone's place and you're having fun, I call that a party. I enjoy small parties, large parties tend to get a bit cliquey.

That, and you'll tell your friend you think his sister is hot, and you'll run over the neighbor kid. That's basically all I ever got from the anti-drug commercials they showed us in high school.
It'll also make you kiss boys.
no, no, you're thinking of MTV

OT: I don't really like parties with tons of people. I went to my girlfriend's friend's 18th ages ago and it was a pain in the ass, since I didn't know anyone there and I was bored as, so I just got drunk and hung out wqith my girlfriend all night until she had had enough and we walked home.

I prefer a party with a few friends, like I used to have, where it'd just be me and four or five friends, though I probably liked that because all my friends were girls and are incredibly hot. XD
