worst would PROBABLY be the ones that created 2 worlds...
Would you believe I enjoyed Two Worlds
I was just saying that very thing. I enjoyed two worlds as well. i don't think it deserves nearly the crap that it gets there are much worse games out there.

We might be the only two people on here that have this opinion though.
We may be LOL. I already Preordered Two Worlds 2 (which BTW I think they should have just called 4 Worlds)

honestly

as good as Valve is, the best for me is ID Software

I mean, sure, Valve hasn't release a bad game in all it's fucking time, and it is pretty much the only one that still knows about the secrets of making good pc versions of their games and is aware of the community

yet, ID revolutionized the damn industry, what, 3 times already?

-started FPS genre
-first fully 3D game (or fully 3D FPS, I'm not really all that sure on that one)
-and improved the FPS Multiplayer scene

as for worst, I think it goes without even showing

LJN

though in all their time, they released one, and I mean, ONE relatively good game
SpiderMan and Venom: Maximum Carnage

I'd like to say Valve is the best. I'd like to, but in reality they just don't put out enough content to be the best, amazing yes, but so is Haley's comet and I'm sure it's due right after Episode 3.

The real best for me would have to be Todd Howard's team at Bethesda. TES 3 and 4 are fantastic games as is Fallout 3, I'm looking very forward to TES 5 in November.

Worst would have to be Lucasarts, who abandoned good quality adventure games in order to pump out Star Wars garbage.

(Honorable mention to BioWare and Irrational Games for Mass Effects and BioShock.)

Hmm... Bungie or Bioware must take the top spot for consistently churning out nice games and (more importantly) being a bunch of nice people.

Worst?

I've no idea. I wouldn't want to work with Relic, as I'd never be able to convince them to make Homeworld 3, but they're hardly bad. Even though the original Homeworld team is gone... *sniff*

Woah...I remember that game on the SNES. It WAS fun...and it was by them.

I'm gonna have to say Valve is the best in my eyes. There's something to be said about polishing your game until it shines bright as a diamond.

Worst would be Activision(shocker) because of their franchise milking, reportedly bad treatment of employees and worst of all Bobby Kotick.

Best companies would be Bioware and 07th Expansion, by far.

As for worst I'll go with Stellar Stone. They made Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

Best developers: any rockstar subsidiary, particularly north, san diego, and vancouver, also Grasshopper, atlus, valve, naughty dog, suckerpunch, Bioware

best publishers: SCEA, Bethesda Softworks, Rockstar

Worst developers: 2k subsidiaries, capcom, bungie, nintendo

worst publishers: microsoft games, nintendo, sega, 2k games

I don't really know what to say about EA, i mean the company is responsible for some horrible shit, like dante's inferno, but also some greatness like the orange box and any new bioware game. so EA is kind of a flip-flop.

Yes. Subjectivity comes to mind.

OT:

Valve - Best

...Not sure for worst.

And I'm not a PC gamer, but I did choose Valve because from what I've seen them do and heard about them, they do good things.

Tell me what company do you trust to make your games and what do you not. For best, I want to say its a tie for Bestheda thanks to their always awesome RPGs and Bioware, for the same reason, for worst....EA.

They remake the same sports crap which I think should just be DLC. They did that bull with charging people for demos. And lets face it, their games aren't doing well

But EA publishes some Bioware games... how can you have it both ways?

The worst is one that you nor I have or ever will hear of, being so bad their game never gets made.
Actually, their name is "Stellar Stone", and they made <link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Rigs:_Over_the_Road_Racing>this.

Best for me is Bungie because of their intense likeability and heavy community interaction. Valve has the same going for them but Bungie inches them out for me because they can actually keep a game schedule.

For worst... hm... I'm suprised no one's mentioned Zynga yet. Or is it just too soon?

Best: Valve

They know how to code. They're one of the few remaining western devs who still polish their games. They keep supporting their games for a long time, with upgrades, patches and balance tweaks and that's rare. Some of their games are a bit meh, but nothing is ever bad.
This is true for Blizzard also, but their association with Activision isn't helping.

Valve also give us Steam sales, easily making up for the money we throw at our gaming PCs.

Worst: prolly never heared of them.

Worst of the big names: Capcom. Sloppy coding and poor polish shouldn't be possible for a Japanese developer. Weak support doesn't help. The final nail is a weak line-up of games.

HUSH! Wait until March to bring them up.

And besides, Stellar Stone is worse than Zynga (if that's possible).

Best for me would probably be Naughty Dog and Insomniac, worst would have to be everyone's favourite money grabbing, originality shunning EA games, by that I mean EVERY division with their love for day 1 DLC.

Are we talking developers or publishers? Because if we're talking publishers, it's hard to pin down a best, but I know the worst---Focus Home Interactive, which puts out crap and then blames piracy when it doesn't sell. At least Activision makes money.

Developers? I'm partial to Creative Assembly, Bethesda Game Studios, and Paradox Interactive in no particular order depending on what I'm playing these days. As for "worst"? Whoever develops that "Imagine" shovelware on the DS that clogs up what seems like 70% of the shelf space at Best Buy. When I'm looking for something to play on the handheld, I'd rather not sift through that overwhelming volume of crap.

Edit: Oh, and big congratulations to Obsidian for finally getting the monkey off their backs. Took 'em long enough, but New Vegas is one of the two or three best games of all time (depending on whether I finally end up putting it ahead of or just behind Fallout 3)---Obsidian finally made a legitimate classic. And in the mother of all ironies, it was a sequel on another developer's engine. That's usually a recipe for suckage with Obsidian.

Developers:
Best: Bioware. I love Valve as much as you guys, but at least Bioware release their F*in' games! DICE, Bungie, naughty dog, sucker punch, criterion, double fine and rocksteady are all great as well.
Worst: Sonic team.

Publishers:
Best: EA partners, by a HUGE margin. For God's sake, PLEASE remember the difference!!!
Worst: Activision. Duh...

Best one for me would be Bandai Namco, once 2 different companies that joined to bring great RPGs like "Tales" ".Hack" "Eternal Sonata" but they're all the worst company because outof all the gundam stuff they had they made dynasty warriors gundam & a sequel. I wish they understood the requerments for a good gundam game
