Best: Team Ico, Valve, Bioware

Worst: Infinity Ward, EA (as both a developer and publisher), Square Enix (in the passed 11 years, everything before that was good).

I'm a bit scared of what EA will do to BioWare. Not to happy about it being bought out. It's almost as bad as having Deus Ex 3 published by Square Enix. Actually, I'm not sure which scares me more.

Big fan of Naughty Dog and BioWare.

Any developer connected to Ubisoft is pretty darn dead to me.

Best: crytek and valve, because both produce high quality games.
Worst: Whichever company/companies shovel out all the shitty movie tie in games.
I think you're the first Crytek fan I've seen on these forums. While I wouldn't rank them as one of the best, they've definitely made some badass games.

I do not think there is a "best" video game company. A shooter fan would most likely say Valve, an RPG junkie would pick Bioware and an RTS enthusiast would say Blizzard.

But we can ALL agree that Activion is the worst at any type of game!

Of the companies currently developing.

Best: Hard to say right now. I want to say Bioware for its always innovative and always improving storytelling, but the gameplay hit its peak years ago with Jade Empire and has gone downhill ever since. I guess I'll say Blizzard, even though they're slower than molasses. The games are just That good.

Worst: Who knows?

Most overrated in this thread: Valve.

Valve was my favorite developer of all time back when Half-Life 1 was released, and they've gone downhill (albeit slowly) ever since.

CS and TFC? Mods made by other people and ported from other games. Sure Valve was smart enough to pick them up, but they didn't make them. They just hired the developers (not an awful thing in itself).

HL2? It was a great game, sure. But it was everything everyone expected it to be and nothing more. For the time it was just another solid fps.

L4D? A rip off of a user-created HL mod (Zombie Panic) and not even that good. It isn't even as fun as the mod, imo.

L4D2? An obvious money grab. Nice.

TF2 micro-transactions? Another money grab, but not that bad if you're into that kind of stuff.

And we still wait for EP3. But why would they even bother finishing it? It won't be nearly as profitable as another hat for pyro in TF2.

Exceptions: Portal and the HL1&2 expansions. Sure, Portal was ripped off from another game, but Valve was smart enough to hire the developer early and make this classic. And the expansions are very good games, even if the HL2 expo releases are being handled terribly.

Steam? I love Steam, but it's not a game.

^Why Valve is overrated^

To all the people who list Valve as the worst developer... I wish all the expensive DLC, tacked-on multiplayer, movie tie-ins, and awful customer support upon you. Opinions are opinions, but. worst. developer!?

Same with listing ICO, Bioware and Bethesda, I mean, come on...

Best in my opinion: Bethesda, because I loved their games that I have.

There is no worst. And even if I did say it would probably start some sort of flame war...

I'm not even really a fan of Valve, but I am a fan of both games.

No. Left 4 Dead is not a ripoff of Zombie Panic. In Left 4 Dead, the zombies are fast. In Left 4 Dead, players don't control the normal infected. In Left 4 Dead, there's no infecting the players.

The only real similarity is that both games pit zombies vs. humans.

Left 4 Dead is a cooperative-type game, Zombie Panic is a mayhem and deathmatch type game.

You're the first one to make that connection, probably because it wasn't very good.

Also, Left 4 Dead - not exactly a Valve game. More of "another developer with an idea who Valve picked up".

And, as for Left 4 Dead 2 being a money grab, nobody forced anyone to buy it. Left 4 Dead 1 is still being played as we speak. Yet it was well-made, fun and added more to the formula than my beloved CoD franchise has done since 2005.

Money-grabbing... Oh, yes, such money-grabbers that they release FREE CAMPAIGNS.

Come on.

Best:For me it's Relic Entertainment. They don't dick around and make fantastic games.

Worst:Don't have one as I am in no mind to give a company that 'honour.'

I can't decide between Team ICO or Valve for the best. For the worst I say Ubisoft. Their games are not necessarily bad, there just isn't any games from them that would be classified as good. Their games are... Bland. Not good but not bad.
In fact, NONE of their titles really strike me as "good" or "bad." It's like their titles are all in a twilight zone. And because of that I cant really remember any Ubisoft titles. It's easy for people to remember good and bad games, but the "Twilight zone" games are hard to remember because nothing sticks out.

Bioware, Blizzard and Valve are the holy trinity of devs in my opinion

Worst?

Koei makes Dynasty Warriors which is pretty damn unforgivable

Best: Bioware (beating Blizzard by the narrowest of margins though swtor could swing it back Blizzards way very easily).

Worse: capcom, hilariously bad titles that end up making money.

Tell me what company do you trust to make your games and what do you not. For best, I want to say its a tie for Bestheda thanks to their always awesome RPGs and Bioware, for the same reason, for worst....EA.

They remake the same sports crap which I think should just be DLC. They did that bull with charging people for demos. And lets face it, their games aren't doing well
have you actually played any Bethesda devloped games besides Fallout 3, The Morrowind universe and Call of Cthulu?
they have made some absolutely fucking horrid games. How the hell can they be tied as one the best game developers out there?
You're obviously only going off recent games.
Valve should be one of the top ones. They have not developed a bad game, ever. They also tend to actually pay attention to their fans (regardless of how long Half life 2 pisode 3 is taking to come out), they are definately one of the best out there.
Screw Bethesda... all of their games are usually buggy messes.
There was once upon a time I'd have put Blizzard up there, but once they got fucking greedy with banning people who maphacked, and making them buy the game again, and then creating world of warcraft *shudder* I lost alot of respect for them (even before they were bought out by activision).
Bethesda do not deserve to be in even the top 5 best game developer companies.
-Tabs<3-
Also, just to prove how little you know... Bioware ARE fucking EA.
-.- So, you've just said one of the worst game PUBLISHERS are the worst game developers?
That makes sense... how about you try playing games that are more than 3 years old before you decide who the best DEVELOPERS are.

Sup guize exactly how many times has Activision been mentioned?

OT: Bioware is the best dev evar! If i have to type "God Level Developers" again...

Maybe not the worst dev ever but Valve's really bad release date planning must put them towards the top.

Best:

Look at my avatar.

Worst: Activision. I've only enjoyed two of their games (Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy)

Firaxis and Harmonix are tied for me, just for the sheer weight of hours I've played of their games.
