So many great games, so little time. Kinda depends on what you're looking for:

Quantity: Oblivion, specifically the PC version. There's already a ton to do in the main game/expansions, but when you add mods it becomes a truly massive and fully customizable experience. Plus, the game's still got an active modding community 6 years after its release, if that tells you anything.

Quality: Portal. Hilarious dialogue, witty puzzles, awesome ending, and none of the recycling old puzzles or forced love story cliches that plague so many otherwise great games. Might be short, but it enters, does what it intends to do absolutely flawlessly, and leaves before it's overstayed its welcome.

Story: Bioshock. Easy to understand, yet it has a mind-bending plot twist that will guarantee you'll never look at a particular phrase the same way again.

Multiplayer: Rock Band 2 with friends in-person, or Call of Duty 4 for online.

I'd probably have to say Portal, as it was just so awesome[footnote]Awesome doesn't even begin to describe it[/footnote] and I loved the writing. I gotta say though, Portal 2 is looking to be a worthy succesor.

Commander Keen series is a close second, though.

I love Silent Hill for it's psychological experience that gets in your head and monumentally amazing story. Also because it successfully got me emotionally attached to the main character.

I also love Tribes: Aerial Assault, it's the most fun war game I've ever played. It successfully threw in powerful weapons without them being one-shot-kill, infuriating guns that make you want to throw your controller through the screen, something Halo failed at. Before the match, you also get to customize the weapons you can have, your armor, armor color, voice, kits,(Repair, Satchel Charge)and you can pilot fighter jets, bombers, motorcycles, and transport vehicles.

That's difficult. I think it's either FFX (I played it a few years ago and have great memories of it, it was brilliant.) Dragon Age: Origins, but I've played it to death now with 5+ playthroughs. I adore Bioshock and FFXIII too, despite all the claims by even FF fans that it was suppose to be crap.

While my severely limited experience hinders the decision making process somewhat (I haven't even played half of the games on this list), the best game I've ever played is definitely Age of Empires II. I hate and continue to hate real time strategy games with a passion because of how terrible I am at them, but I probably spent YEARS playing that game over and over again because it was just so wonderful. I'm terrified of getting Age of Empires III because somehow I know it will never compare to those memories.

I will vote FFT. Gameplay story and just an awesome game. Almost have Ramza a master at everything.
I'm with you man, FFT is my favorite game. WHY WONT THEY MAKE AN UPDATED SEQUEL?! I hate the gameboy ones. I said after I completed FFT that it would be cool if the bar missions were playable but then they do it and they ruin everything else. Kiddy storyline, unlikeable classes. Hell the Knight in FFT wasn't the best but at least his character model was cool!

Sorry, I just love the original FFT and am disgusted with the sequels.
I share your disgust with the gameboy versions, but please god, the game does not need a sequel. It's one of those games that does not need to be touched again and elaborated on because the events after the game are entirely irrelevant and would just feel like money milking.

If anything, a prequel would be the best they could do, detailing the 100 years war or perhaps even the adventures of the Zodiac braves, but even that is pushing it. Some game just need to be left alone and not be tainted by unnecessary expansions.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The first time you step foot on Hyrule Field ensures you that the adventure that is about to unfold will be one of the most epic that you will ever play. Nothing was bad about this game. Sure, it was only collectibles to find after completing the main quest and you couldn't see the land of Hyrule after Ganon was defeated (why do Zelda games always put you back to before the final boss? Why?). It was just amazing all the way through, no other word to describe it.

And the ReDeads. Scary. As. Fuck.

Killer 7

It took me 5 months to get into the game. I finally made myself sit down and play it...even when it started to make my brain bleed.

Or Shadow Of The C- spent the entire game wasted and have never care so much about a horse...unless you count this girl I met in a club once

Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis

It's just........soooooo good. Very good single-player(thanks to map editor) and pretty much the best multiplayer ever. Sure, there isn't many players online and you need some mods to play with them, but it's worth it.

I will always remember that one match. One single Capture The Island(best game mode ever) that lasted almost 6 hours. Played that one match all night. Best match I've ever played.

This is a hard one....The best eh? Give me a second to erect a barrier between me and the derision I am sure is to be heaped upon me...Ok, the best game I have ever played IMO is Spyro: A Heroes Tale. I know it's a kids game, and blah, blah, blah, but it had everything I love! Bright colors, fun environments, an easy to follow story line, cute characters, a sense of accomplishment at the end of a quest... Perfect.

I honestly have to list two different games, because it's hard to pick just one.

Fatal Frame 3 (though the Fatal Frame 2 is also extremely good) and Shadow of the Colossus. Two very different games, but both amazing. Obviously it's impossible to find a perfect game, but they definitely come close.

I have to say that it's Red Faction Guerrilla.

I picked it up a couple days ago and haven't seen daylight since. It's just such a satisfyingly awesome game.

Tell me, have you ever driven a truck into a military building, gotten out of said truck, and blown up rigged explosives that were on the truck which consequently collapses the building and kills everyone inside IN ANY OTHER GAME?

If you understood that run on sentence, then you should have a taste of what RF:G is like. Incredible.
Most games do that :p

Like, for example, Men of War, which is my favourite game.
