Hello fellow Escapists. Whilst watching football today drinking beer, I decided that TV has to be the greatest invention of all time. Everyone watches at least one thing on TV. We watch films on them and play games on them. Whilst thinking this, I also decided some runners up. Beer, football (English), music, the 2 pint glass and beer.

So, what do you think the best invention of all time is?

Electricity ... without it a large amount of other inventions wouldn't work.

Anything medical. I am glad to live in the 21st century for anesthesia and modern medical practices. Specifically, I'd say disinfectant. That stuff saves so many lives and limbs they'd give it a nobel prize if it were a person.

Electricity, for sure. It's necessary for just about every other recent innovation you care to name.

The wheel, internal combustion engine and internet seemed to have captured the essence of their relative eras (pre-history, industrialisation and the information age).

Bacon.
It is superior to everything.
Yuck! bacon is disgusting! It looks and smells nasty. And besides, we didn't invent it just like we didn't event beef. Someone just decided to kill a pig one day and see what it tasted like.

OT: Cars, boats/ships, trains, buses, and airplanes. These vehicles make the world go round and they are a defining feature of modern times; they were a HUGE change.

Best + Worst invention of all time: The Internet.
I agree soooooo hard, i think its to the point that we are so dependent on it that if we were to lose it our infrastructure would collapse.

At which point other inventions would take up the slack entirely... like how life was not very long ago.

The internet's cool and stuff, but it being the 'most important invention' is a bit weird, like saying a lazy susan is the most useful thing in a spice rack because it lets me look at all the other spices better. As if spice racks can't exist without them, or that if you could just cook with a lazy susan alone.

Wait...is this the year 2111?
