What is the best RPG on the PS1?

Final Fantasy IX. That or Tactics.

FF IX was number 2 for me. Thepart where you have to go to the auction to get that 11 000 dollar item (can't remember name!!!) and play the card game was the boring part for me. Like I said before CC NEVER got boring.

Then which one was number 1?

My favourite FF is FFXII but my favourite ps1 rpg is Chrono Cross like I said in the OP. I refered to FFIX as second to that as best PS1 RPG.

Definitely Final Fantasy Tactics

For those of you saying Chrono Trigger, Chrono Trigger was never on PS1. You're talking about Chrono Cross; Chrono Trigger is far, far superior to Chrono Cross.

It was but I don't find it even nearly as awesome as Chrono Cross was.

Toss-up between Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, and Star Ocean: The Second Story.

Saga Frontier 2 was also great in my personal estimation.

Then you got your typical, FF7-9, Chrono cross etc.

PSone era was arguably one of the best generations for RPGs. I honestly think it stands up quite well to the more accepted Snes golden era of RPGs.

Final Fantasy 6 was re-released on the PS1, so I'll go with it as my fav FF, followed by 7,8,9 in that order. (Yup, i think they hit high-note at 6 and got "worse" or something)

Overall fav RPG on the PS1? Might go with FF6 anyway. Or perhaps Grandia? Breath of Fire 4? (preferred it to 3, especially since the fishing is SOOOOO ADDICTIVE IN IT)

Jade Cocoon was also good fun, but not as good as FF or BoF.
