Winner:
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Though it has many flaws.... it's a classic adventure game... you play it ANY WAY you want. That's a true RPG

Runner up:
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

haven't played fallout, but I've heard great things. Of the games I've played I'd have to give it to Morrowind... followed closely by Baldur's Gate series (i recently dug up my old baldur's gate CDs!). Though I have nothing against Japanese RPGs none of them have ever really gripped me into the storyline.

Honestly... its a much older game, but my hat has to go off for Suikoden II. It was an engaging and unexpected storyline, with characters you actually started to care about, both on your side and opposing.

Suikoden V did a good job replicating it, so if you don't have the funds to grab 2, 5 is a good investment :p

I've always loved Tales of Symphonia, despite all of it's incredibly annoying flaws.

Like for instance, the game let's you play co-op with other players, or set other party members to AI. Of course, the camera was alway focused on the first player, and their target monster, and had an irritating habit of switching to the closest enemy, and have your friends yell at you. And to remedy this problem you can always play alone, of course the game slaps you in the face with this too, by having your teammate AI be Pants-on-head-retarded. For instance, as soon as your healer runs out of TP they'll run up to the enemy/boss/whatever, and trying to beat it to death instead of waiting for you to restore it. If you're fresh out of potions (or "gels" in this game), your tempted to let them die, but you soon get the impression that the game hates you, because after each battle you are assigned "Grade" based on how well/poor you did in battle, and it pisses you off to lose 8 grade or so because your teammates are too retarded to run away when they're dying, as well as the arbitrary item cost.

Also the dungeons suck, and the game seems to find a way to throw five or six "Final" dungeons at you.

To the games credit, when you're not being irked by the above issues, the battles are tremendously fun, especially boss battles.

That was a big ol' edit eh?

Zelda: Ocarina of time since it has some RPG elements

I haven't played many exclusively RPGs but I do like Final Fantasy X alot. someone mentioned Baulder's Gate so I suppose I'll throw that in there as well.

I loved Knights of the Old Republic, the sequel, and Morrowind but my favourite RPG, and game for that matter was Gladius.

You feild a team of Gladiators in a TBS. You could literally play the game a second time and it would be completely different. It did have it's problems, but I loved it.

didn't a similar thread come about late in 2007? oh well. can't really say i've played many pc ones, cause i've only recently had a pc that wasn't full of self-destructing shit bricks that were cobbled togethor by a first year computer retard who made it so that the fan would constantly thwack the underside of the DVD drive. good move idiot mcretardo.

my favorite rpg is "chrono trigger". that's really as far as i go with eastern RPGs. after getting to the end of "final fantasy" 4, 7, and finally 10 without being able to beat ANY of them, i finally said fuck this shit. but with "chrono trigger" it was always a great gaming experience.
not saying it's too easy, and not saying it's too hard... just saying
