What is the best written videogame ever?

Overall, Halo has an excellent story. I really hate when people say it doesn't, because all it proves is that they're too lazy to bother noticing the great story in a game.

Also, The Longest Journey, and Dreamfall, together have an amazing story, one that I am fairly desperate to see how it continues (roll on Dreamfall: Chapters!!!!!).

KOTOR 2 had some pretty good writing all things considered, too bad the rest of the game was such a mixed bag.

Did you ever play Planescape: Torment? Both games have the same head designer/writer I think.

Yep, Chris Avellone. Excellent writer, but dismal as a project leader. He can make a great story, but his games are always buggy.

I'm going for the Legacy of Kain series. Its the only game series where I keep playing it, even after about 10 years, just for the plot. (And I love Kain's voice. God bless you Simon Templeman)
