what is the deal with Skyrim?

OK i'm doing this what is with almost everyone liking Skyrim but i just don't get it. Not saying that it will be a bad game but really can some one give me a reason why it will be so good?

And no the reason "Because it's Skyrim" or "Because it's an Elder Scrolls game" will not count i want a real reason to buy this game because it looking very bad to me right now mainly because why people are so praising of it 3 months before it comes out.

It's a big epic fantasy RPG that people have been looking forward to and people liked Morrowind and Oblivion.

I have no interest at all in Skyrim, but I understand why it's so popular.

It doesn't matter if it looks good or not, people will cling to something they have loyalty to.

It's an absolutely huge open world roleplaying game with hundreds upon hundreds of hours of content. Is it really so hard to see the appeal?

For me, it's how the game seems to play. The design of the whole thing seems to be phenomenal.

For example, I quite like the idea of having an RPG which I don't have to be restricted by a certain skill-set. In Skyrim, you get all the skills, and you level them as you please. That's a major selling-point for me.

I know that it was basically the same in Oblivion, but in Oblivion you had your primary skills and the rest were secondary, which I didn't really like very much.

Also, there will be randomly generated dragons in the game, which is pretty fucking cool as far as that sorta thing goes.

and 'Because it's an Elder Scrolls game' is definitely a good reason. Elder Scrolls games have been very good, so obviously the people who make them know what they're doing.
also, watch the trailers... THAT'S why! you get to play as a dragon-killing badass!

I would like to get Skyrim when it comes out but I'm avoiding all the people who are raving about it. I liked Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 due to the massive world and huge number of quests and role play options.

I have expectations of Skyrim but I won't say its good until I've had a go. When I have as much fun as I did when I was an Assassin in Oblivion or a hardened traveller in Morrowind, then will I say I like the game.

I recommend you borrowing a copy of Oblivion or Morrowind and having a go, the games aren't without their flaws (which game doensn't have flaws?) but you might understand the excitement of others then.

Skyrim is aimed at new gamers as well, its the current fans who are putting you off. Also not liking Fallout doesn't mean you won't like the Elder scrolls, some of the handling is the same but its the story that makes a game. (Well it does for me at least.)

Holy crap, dude.

They're not 'aiming it at older gamers'. Ten year olds can and will enjoy this game. It's going to be an epic, sprawling fantasy RPG with what's looking to be the best combat ever seen in an RPG, made by a company famous for its series of epic, sprawling fantasy RPGs.

People are looking forward to it because there is every reason to believe it's gonna rock their socks off.

i think its because its single player, i mean how many single player games hour for hour measure up to bethesda's other games it would be few even if we're going off the amount people are willing to admit to. Skyrim's a guartee you'll have fun rather than the hope so many games don't deliver on (and you won't be forced to suffer dodgy single player because marketing needed the multiplayer angle yes I'm looking at you metro last light).

The TC didn't say that, in fact they even said "Not saying that it will be a bad game." They simply asked for some examples of what people think is going to make this a good game.

ok what i mean by "it'll be good before it comes out" is meaning it might be overhyped and by alot more than normal gamers are. Next i hace seen game series drop at the toss of a hat so who knows. Lastly i like dragons alot and don't like killing them

"Because its an Elder Scrolls game" is probably the best reason though. You can't really get across what it is in a 30-minute demo.

Its just open-ended freedom, exploration, with interesting quests and NPCs, and a variety of play styles.
