1. Oblivion and fallout 3 were huge sellers for Bethesda.

2. People enjoy their games because they like the exploring, having a large, beautiful open world to do what they like in. They also enjoy the way those games offer a variety of weapons, armours, playstyles etc...

Basically your post comes down to 'I don't like that kind of game and can't understand why other people do so it's crap'

Because I love Oblivion and this is looking like everything Oblivion was and much, much more.

That and, well, just look at it! Jesus, it looks incredible. Anyone with even the slightest inclination toward WRPGSs should be at least looking forward to it.

Most people here have, and they want more. Skyrim is more. We're hoping it's better too.

It isn't aimed at new or old gamers, it's aimed at people who want a Western Medieval Fantasy RPG. That is a lot of people. I've only played some of Oblivion, so I'm not an old-time fan-boy, but I'll be getting Skyrim.

If you played and hated Fallout (which one BTW?) it probably isn't for you. You don't seem to like any RPGs from what I've heard so far, so you'd be best to simply ignore it and let people like what they like.

Oh, and trust me, they are going to get a lot of money.

I really hate these "convince me" threads, because I seriously doubt there's a damn thing I can say that will sway your already made up decision.

If the official information released by bethesda wasn't able to convince you to even harbor the thought of a purchase what chance does anyone else stand, since you'll probably dismiss any of their opinions as fanboyism or being caught up in the hype.

But if you must know the reason why I'm getting the game..because it's skyrim and because it's an Elder Scrolls game.

Ok, why is everybody saying "You don't like Skyrim" or "You think it's going to be a bad game."

The TC didn't say that, in fact they even said "Not saying that it will be a bad game." They simply asked for some examples of what people think is going to make this a good game.

It's not a reason to bite the dudes head off, everybody.
thank you i'm not saying it will be a bad just because some one doesn't like it

Well it's the type of RPG that it's actually unique in a gaming world of same repetitive features.

One good example I always liked and I hear it often from Bethesda is that when you look into the world of Elder Scrolls and you see that far away mountain/peak/whatever you can actually go there.

'because its an Elder Scrolls game' is a valid reason. the previous one was Oblivion, which was great. it looked good, it has a great main storyline, the guilds each have a great storyline, the weapon system was good and the one big downside was the lack of voice actors, and the low amount of Patrick Stewart VA.

fallout 3/NV was aiming at older gamers as well as new ones. the Elder Scrolls games, just like in Fallout, are only connected by the fact that the games take place in the same period and the same world. you can buy any TES game with no prior knowledge of the mythos and still sink right in.
with each game, though, they improve it. plus, the last game came out in 2005. its like if valve announced HL3.

We're looking forward to it because it's what Bethesda do best. We want a huge open world RPG that will blow our minds, and Bethesda have already delivered on that 4 times, so why would this be any different?

Seriously? This thread is unnecessary and stupid. Alright, you dont like Skyrim. Fine. I dont like Zelda. Am I going to make a thread about it? I dont like COD 4. Am I going to make a thread about it? I dont like all those indie games. Am I going to make a thread about it?

You dont like The Elder Scrolls. Fine. But we dont care.
Ok, I have to ask ... how can you hate ALL those indie games? There's such variety in them you can't hate them all!

On topic. People have played morrowind and oblivion and loved them, so they want more of the same, plus some stuff and looking better.

Just massive games where you do what you like.

So they should abandon a loyal fanbase of millions to try to get new people. Thats actually a pretty good way for them to lose money. Seriously, they produced Brink and that game died faster than a shadfly, and I even liked it.

Also the Skyrim offers a wide open world you can bend and twist to fit whatever game style you want. Combine that with the insane modding community and I can have fun for ages. Sure its not for everyone but thats why there are many different games now isnt it.

I player Dragon Age 2 and that turned out to be a fucking steaming pile of shit because BioWare tried to aim for new gamers as well as the old ones and ended up appealing to none of them. Trying to do the same for Skyrim is a terrible idea because they already have a strong fanbase (as DA:Origins did) and alienating them will just lose Bethesda money in the end.

Jesus H you have some fucking ret ideas, goddamn. When you eventually play Skyrim, be sure to name your character "Wenchborn", after yourself.
ok this just made wanna play skyrim less now

It is different. Are you even reading any of the logical responses, or is your intent to make you look like an idiot?

First off, it's in a whole new Region of the Elder Scrolls world, with an entirely new story.

Second, they have completely changed the skill system in this game, it may play the same, but the way you earn experience and level up is completely different.

How the fuck is it the same to older games? Then again, you haven't even played the older games.
so it's a new world to live in, a new story to be a part of and a new skill system
this will cause one of two things
1 i will be the same game just with a new coat of paint and a different way to play it
2 older fans will hate the "new" skill system and the game won't be good

Skyrim is set 200 years after Oblivion. I get bored of CoD easily because it's linear, and each game i a carbon copy. Hopefully, Skyrim will play similar to Oblivion, with improvements in many areas. By the look of it, they have done just that, and the open-world design makes it much harder to get bored of.
I've played about 40 hours of Reach. And about 300 hours of Oblivion. It's not hard to see why.

Each and every Eldar Scrolls game has had different ways of doing things. Fans of Morrowind loved Oblivion. Hell, I even enjoy Arena, though DOSbox is a nightmare to get working.
Having the same game with a new coat of paint and a new way of playing it is jut what I want. is it really an insult?
And, so far, everyone who played the demo has agreed that the new skill system works awesomely.

What's with these "what's with X" threads? I may be new to the forums but one of the things that slightly bugs me about these forums is that some people think they should just make a new thread and push a potentially(or existing) discussion-worthy thread down to the 2nd page.

Anyways this is my opinion on these threads:

And my opinion this subject is that skyrim is well worth the hype for people who enjoy the elder scrolls games (and similar kinds of games). Nothing more, nothing less. It's a new game, bringing new ideas.
