Wet. I was impressed by the game because it made the two things I love, ultraviolence and tits, boring as hell to play. The tutorial section at the beginning of the game forced you to run the same thing over and over again until you got it right.

Sometimes a demo is a bad thing. Currently I am of the opinion that I do NOT want to play AVP based on the demo.
I had the same thing, however I also bought the game (talk about optamistic!). Its fun but lacking in any original thought compared to the previous games.

The FFXIII trailers dissapointed me if that counts for anything. As far as released games go, Empire Total War was pretty awful. Tedious campaign mode and even more tedious battles.

Since I'm a budger gamer and rarely buy games when or shortly after they get release, I'm going with Farcry 2. I have no idea what's going on or why I'm doing stuff and it takes entirely too long to get to the location of the stuff i'm suppose to kill/destroy.

Bioshock 2 really let me down. I loved the first, mainly for the story, and the second just felt half-assed. Does anyone else feel the same way?
I do, for me Bioshock2 felt nothing like the first one, it seemed to end way too quickly and just sorta stumbled from one level to the next. then again, nearly all the games i planned on buying where a dissapointment in the end in one way or another, where-as Darksiders (which i never planned on buying, but did just to pass the time till other games came out) i thought was actually quite good.

Not a recent game, but one I finally got to play recently.. Advent Rising. Got it a while back, lost the disc, then only recently found it gathering dust atop one of my shelves.

Hoping it to be the satisfying shooter with a compelling story and cracking set pieces that a few reviews had said it was, I instead got.. meh. It's just so.. average.

It's Halo and Mass Effect thrown hastily together and then passed through a device intended to suck all the personality, charm, and drive out of the game.

A real bummer for me was Myst. Had great graphics back then, but the puzzles were far to easy.
Can't say much about recent games as my PC will not run them anymore. :(

Most recent was Dead Space and Borderlands.

Dead Space was decent, but I just can't get into it with it's horrible UI and the whole game just seems sluggish and sloppy.

Borderlands. Well I wasn't impressed. Got boring very fast. Not much else to say.

The most recent disappointment for a console was Disgaea 3, that of course being a few years back but still I was so sad they remade the abilities system, and the whole classroom group organizer while a good idea didn't take me too well.

The most recent disappointment for a PC game was torchlight. I went and bought that thinking "well diablo 3 is gonna be another year or two, lets have fun with this in the mean time" *sigh* that got boring very quickly.

I'm gonna throw in an of all time and say the orignal mass effect. When it was first announced one would think "oh sweet a bioware game, it must kick ass" it was ok, but some of the music sounded like something out of robo cop, the damn vehicle sections were a nightmare, the voice acting left a lot to be desired, and last but certainly not the least, the 360 version (yes I know I was a fool to buy a console game when ti would have been MUCH better on the PC) was buggy as all holy hell, that was in fact the reason I never even finished the game.

I am a huge survival horror/action horror fan so without a doubt Alone in the Dark for the Wii.

Atari talked forever about how they built the Wii version from the ground up to work specifically for the Wii with cool motion controls and that it would NOT just be a PS2 port with waggle tacked on.

I played that game for an hour before realizing I just spent $50 on lies: the motion controls were broken, the game was lame, the story and characters were stupid, it wasn't scary at all.

I guess I should have known something was up when there were NO REVIEWS for like a week after launch

Fahrenheit also Known as Indigo Prophecy.

The Story and overall Game started awesome, immerssive and just impressive.
But the later you got into the game the more awfull it became.

The whole thing fell apart when you got that orphan. The following battle felt just stupid and the sexscene was just more of this rushed stupidity.

Note that i am not prude, but especially how they rushed along those parts and the fact that they got totally naked during a dooming ice age together with the just ugly look of the totally unerotic scene made it unbelieveable. I couldn't just buy it that they felt in love that quick and easy.

I was first going to say Borderlands, because while it was tons of fun for the first few days when four of us pretty much ditched everything else going on in our lives (including work, etc.) to play through the entire game in co-op, it pretty much died about four days after it came out, and we haven't gone back to it since. It was fun while it lasted, but it didn't last very long. If we'd all grabbed L4D2 instead, we'd still be playing now, probably.

But really what was much, much more of a disappointment was the first BioShock, which I didn't play until about a month ago. A lot of people whose opinions I trust told me it was basically the greatest thing ever and that I was a horrible person for not having played it yet, so I did. The setting is great, and a lot of the story as it comes together is pretty interesting, and I mostly like the design and style of it...but the gameplay was so bland and tedious (for me; other people seem to like it) that I never even finished the last third of the game and just looked up the rest of the plot to see what I missed.
