clive barkers jericho (they just kept dying on me) but really the hardest game ever made is DMC 4 on hell and hell difficulty
I try to avoid games I know are ridiculously hard, but way back when I didn't know any better I'd say that "The Adventures of Bayou Billy" for the NES was pretty difficult. Never even got past stage 1 until I emulated it years later, and even with a save button the driving parts were almost (but not quite) as bad as Battletoads. I know that Battletoads is easily a harder game, but since I never played it without a save function I can't really count it

Because it is. The normal mode is the hard mode. They fixed the difficulty setting in the special version (and no I'm not making this up).jezz8me said:

Seriously, that had to be the hardest game I've ever played. And I've played all of the Ninja Gaiden games... the control and hit detection was just ATROCIOUS.sv93 said:

Having said that though, IWBTG is definitely the hardest iv played. All the thousands of death that there is no way of being able to avoid if you haven't died to it before. Awesome game though.
As well as this i am reminded of a friend who told me that he thought Half Life 1 was the worst designed game ever just because he couldn't work out how to get Barney to open the door at the very start of the game (just after tram). How unfortunate.
