Rage. Love the combat, the environments, atmosphere, and its aesthetics. Its story and dialogue left something to be desired

Skyrim

I like it, but I don't love it. The increased graphics are nice, but I still miss a lot of things from Oblivion.
What did you prefer from oblivion?

Limbo: got it from the steam sale and I love it. I have a bad computer and having a game look beautiful while playing at a good frame rate is rare. The simple graphics plus great aesthetics make the game awesome looking. Also, Giant ass spider. 'Nuff said.

Skyrim. I didn't like Oblivion much, in fact I thought in most ways that mattered it was a mediocre title in a bit world yet Skyrim seems to fix so many things. I still think the combat is very simplified and lacks depth but the setting and aesthetic have been extremely well designed and the whole experience feels so much more immersive than Oblivion.

Gameplay was overall better in basically every way.

Mages had more spells, a spell creator, an enchanting system with more enchantments that wasn't so overpowered it made items better than anything findable in game. They could also hold a sword/shield and still cast without pausing.

Warriors were not so overpowered that they could 1 hit everything thanks to smithing, and there was no smithing skill that allowed them to basically make the armor/weapons so that looting becomes useless. Shields didn't make you move in quicksand, and actually blocked a decent amount.

Stealth characters had things like chameleon, and rings of detect life and nighteye for overall better gameplay. They didn't need to spend tons of perk points on useless crap to get the ultimate 100 sneak ability either. Plus Dark brotherhood was way cooler back in the day, and had sweater armor.

Oh and the class system and level up system was way better. In Oblivion there is always a decent difficulty, whereas in Skyrim I found myself 1 hitting literally everything on Master or cursing because my character was so weak from constantly leveling up in speechcraft or lockpick and wasting perk points in those areas.

I've played Skyrim for 80 hours, and beat the game. It was decent, but it just removed too much for the vanilla to hold up to Oblivion for me. I'll be back once the mods hit probably.

Deus ex human revolution. I love it but I have no idea why. Other than the fact it reminded me to go and watch Blade Runner again.

On the Skyrim bandwagon. What can I say that hasn't bene said about it? It's not for everyone but it is a fantastic game for exploration fans. Kinda wish the enemy AI was a little better, though. Might try to mod in more complex behaviors once the creation kit comes out.

Bastion. aside from several of the proving grounds being far too difficult, the game is perfect. its the best XBLA game ive played, and is definitely one of my favorite games this year.

Zelda Skyward Sword - Disappointing, I can't consistently perform horizontal or vertical slashes as many end up diagonal. Making many of the enemies/bosses more difficult to defeat than they should be. There are other examples but that's the key important one. As it is, I consider this to be one of the worst Zelda games simply because controls are extremely important to my gaming experience.

The story, puzzle, graphics and sidequests are all excellent. If you agree that the controls are perfect as some reviewers claim, than it's a fantastic game and should rank among the top 3 Zelda's of all time.

Last game I bought was Catherine although a week b4 that I bought Assassins Creed Revelations, so I have been going back and forth between the two ever since. I liked Catherine so much but since I got a bad ending I'm replaying it on normal, (Big mistake). Sadly last night my ps3 randomly stopped working while I was playing Assassins Creed, so now my attention has went over to twilight princess. Sadly I have no time for gaming till the weekend so the broken ps3 isn't an issue yet courtesy of going to work and school monday through friday. But ya and I stupidly spilt juice on my psp so thats not working either hoorayh for my own clumsiness and stupidity. O well still got the wii semi functioning ds, ps2 and computer to go.

Saints Row: The Third.
Well, it was rather entertaining, but Saints Row 2 was waaaaaaaay better than the new installment (IMO IMO IMO). I don't regret buying it by any means but it just left a little bit to be desired.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I'm 5 hours in and frankly I'm a little disappointed. It just doesn't seem as spectacular and polished as Twilight Princess. Hopefully it gets better.

Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012. I'm a complete novice when it comes to Magic cards. I picked the game up because it was on Steam sale, and the LRR crew got me interested in checking it out (which is why, I'd guess, Wizards of the Coast gave them a show and loads of Magic and D&D stuff). I mean that uncut sheet of cards the auctioned off on Desert Bus. Wow! I'd never played the game, but it looked so shiny!

Anyway veering back on topic: It may just be because I'm a new player, but I can't beat the first guy. Maybe I just don't have the strategy down yet, but he whips my ass on the easiest difficulty.

Though the game is fun, and engaging, and I picked up the rules very quickly.

Also you get a code that you input in the Wizards website for a FREE deck of real life Magic cards (you print out a coupon and hand it to your local retailer). I didn't expect that, but it's really damn awesome. I got a fun game AND a deck of cards for £2.50!
