There were alot of levels like that in my time Gaming, but the most Recent would be Super R-Type.Seriously that Game is just fucking broken! I kept playing over and over and over till all my friends that were around watching Tv and surfing the web got so pissed at my outburst of Hate and anger that they ordered me to get out and take a looong break from the Game.

In Donkey Kong Country, I had the worst time in the Krem Korps world and even when I got past that K.Rool would whip his ship with my fat simian ass.

Also in Legend of the mystical Ninja, the rotating pillars in the Ninja Palace gave me the worst trouble, went and downloaded it to the virtual console and passed it easy.

I never passed the jumping puzzle room in Dark Messiah with the giant spiders all over the walls without a cheat. Everything else in the game, I cleared with almost no problem, including the end boss. But those goddamn spiders got me every time...
'twas easy if you had/used the fireball spell. Hit them before they touch the ground and they fall to their deaths. It's just a case of timing and not freaking out (I hate spiders). Using the bow also worked, I think.

For me, it's that damned level in Forgotten Realms : Demon Stone with Drizzt. I can't do it :(

The final boss on Dark Cloud. =/ I got stuck so bad that I just gave up. In my defence though I'd only been playing games for a couple of months and I'd probably have no problem with it these days.

In modern times I'd have to say Relentless and Heart of the Reich on Veteran in COD5. Took me about 3 weeks for the former spread over about 6 months and almost a solid week for the latter. Stupid grenade spam. >=(

Control from Goldeneye, 00 Agent difficulty. The last level I need to unlock the Egypt and Natalya just insists on dying every time.

In baldur's gate 2,I'm still stuck in a room right before another room with 4 angry mindflayers waiting for me.
My party has been able to topple every threat with ease, but those four bastards just can't be beaten.
I tried lowering the difficulty, turning my main character into the Slayer(badass monster killing machine),luring them out one by one.Nothing.

Everytime I open that door,4 mindflayers cast AOE spells and drain all my party member's intelligence stat so it finally reaches 0 and perma-kills them.

Poor boo,Minsk always finds the way to die first. It would seem that those tentacle-faced monsters prefer a lunatic's mind over a sane one.

I remember that the fight against RAAM, the final boss in the original Gears of War was agonisingly difficult. Forunately, I somehow did it. Sadly, it was largely an anticlimax.

Time Splitters 2, robot factory, medium difficulty co-op.

No I'm dead serious. Me and my friend have been trying to get past that freaking level for days straight, never getting even close to finish it. I'm not a bad gamer and he's of the "games nowadays are way too easy" attitude, that level just seems made to be impossible. And what bothers me the most is that it's medium difficulty! I really don't want to see what it's like on hard.
HIGH FIVE! Man, TS2 was pretty damn hard on medium. Took me ages to finish it.

And on hard, it is even worse!

The end of the sniper mission on CoD4... Took me ages to do it on Hardened, have yet to complete it on veteran.
I thought this would be the deffinitive hard level of gaming history, its hard even with grenade rain turned off! (not veteran that is), even the most arrogant gamer I know was silenced by that spot.
I wonder if MW2 will have a sucessor for the title.

P.S. I have beaten it on veteran though, a few months after I got up to it.

This [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCUPMt-SUiM&feature=related] boss fight in I Wanna Be The Guy.

It really shouldn't be that hard, but having beaten it myself, I can truthfully say that it is one of the most infuriating bosses I've ever fought.
That vid was hilarious... nice to see I'm not the only one who gets pissy like a five year old girl while gaming :D

Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?

Sir Sweet's second form. Where every other boss takes a reasonable amount of damage and can be knocked out to let you take out a sizeable chunk of their health bar, Sir Sweet can't be knocked out and takes next to no damage. And while you're savaging the PSP's square button and crippling your thumb you have to dodge a whole raft of attacks, any given one of which can potentially knock you clean off the stage. Then just when victory seems assured, he speeds up and you are completely boned. Oh, and there's a three minute time limit. Suddenly my remaining 480 lives don't seem like enough.
